In addition, I've seen that guy rip off at least a half a dozen people.

If the engine is in Singapore or wherever, the 500 dollars you end up paying in customs and shipping fees only gets it to America. You still have to pay American taxes and customs, as well as overland shipping to your door.

If the engine is missing parts, you can't do anything about it.

If the engine doesn't work, you can't do anything about it.

Did I miss anything Jesse?

Oh, I would also like to add that my engines, Joel Burke's engine ( formerly of Unstable ), and I believe Heavy Throttle's engines all come out of running vehicles in Japan, if it is less than 2,000 dollars it isn't from a running vehicle.

Thats why I just stick to buying the small stuff off of ebay. People just need to learn to be 'smart' shoppers.

they only insure it for the transit though. They don't insure that its complete, they also don't insure anything that the seller never sends...

actually, they insure it through transit so if any thing happens to the engine during shipping your $$$ is still safe, and the company gets a refund from the escrow service for the lost engine. once you receive the engine you normally have 48 hours to examine the engine. if your satisfied, you tell the escrow service and they wire the money to the place of sale. if you are not satisfied with the engine, you ship it back. once the company receives the engine, you get your money back minus the escrow fee!

this way the seller and the buyer are both protected for a minimum fee:D

This company's a complete fraud...they've used a number of eBay aliases (jdmengines, illron, jdm1, etc). An SR20 for <$2000? You gotta be kidding me.

I certainly hope this kid's persistant and gets his money back...

They don't listen to you 99.9% of the time, and if they question the seller about it, he can then report to eBay and YOU will get in trouble.

A friend of mine was going to order a motorset from Jspec, until I convinced him to ask and make sure that it came with everything. Turns out that everything that could be missing/broken was. No MAF, no ignitor, cut harness, and no ECU, and broken steering pump. All for a cool 2K. My friend was going to buy it too, until I told him that it need 1200 in parts just to make it run. I doubt they even run with all the parts. I'm sure Ebay can just block this person's IP adress. I doubt he has an IP scrambler.

don't even buy motors on ebay. Ebay can't do jack **** if you lose your money anyways. In another word, don't buy things that is too good to be true, and also, don't spend more than 100 bucks or 200 per item on ebay jsut for your safety sakes...unless the seller has REALLY GOOD FEEDBACKS...but tempting still.

I know you would have to be the biggest moron to buy a 2k item when the seller has 0 feedback AND you havent even seen the engine.

I would also like to add that you should question the person vouching for the shop. What amount of responsibility can they hold if the job goes bad and do they really have a clue what is going on.

Thanks for this post guys I will consider this when searching for my engine.

I just noticed that you are in NY. Why don't you just get one from Heavy Throttle? They are pretty good and your motorset is gonna be complete. It's kinda pissing me off that they have not completed updating their site though....

I am going with a local shop. Full Throttle is their name. They have completed many swaps in the area and they do some good work.
