I've heard some members having good things to say about WARPSPEED Y-Pipes.Will the Hi-Flow Cat be of any benefit for the extra $110 bucks, or is the Y-Pipe alone the way to go? Also, should I look elsewhere for a better pipe?

I use the Warpspeed pipe, and have had no problems with it. Cattman is almost identicle. I use a high flow cat, and have had an argument with a few people about it, I believe that it does flow at a higher rate. There was a considerable difference in sound (it was louder) when I installed the cat. That tells me that it was flowing at a higher rate. The Y-pipe was worth every penny I paid for it.

Are you running their aluminized mandrel bent Y or their 304 SS MIG Stainless Steel Y? Which one will give better gains?

I have the aluminized. They will give equal gains. Stainless looks prettier than the other, and won't rust out as easily, that's the only difference.

You know, I worked at a Porsche/BMW shop not to long ago and the owner, as well as a few of the other mechanics, swore that a high-flow cat was absolutely no different from a good ol' stock cat. Yet, I understand what beancooker is saying about it being louder and therefore having more flow. I think if someone here on this forum had access to a dyno or a smog machine and the time, I think the hi-flow cat vs. the OEM cat test would prove to be an interesting one.

I second that. The sound does get louder meaning air should be flowing more freely but not necessarily.

here is the one thing i never did dyno it to see the difference between the high flow cat and the stock oem cat. When i had mine installed i did notice a little bit of difference but i mean miniscule but when you have your car for so long any little difference you learn to pick it up instantly. To be honest i had the high flow cat and removed it and put a test pipe and as for the y pipe i had my Warpspeed y pipe now for 3 years and its perfectly fine so for the buck warpspeed is the way to go but any y pipe is going ot open up your car like a 20 dollar bill opens up a stripper.

Warpspeed should work fine for a VQ30 powered 5th-gen. They suck for the 5.5-gen tho.

In general, I am NOT a fan of theirs.

Well, I don't have an aftermarket y-pipe, in desperate need of one and not sure which one to buy, but I do have a high-flow cat from Custom Enterprise (r.i.p.) and I felt a difference, small, but noticeable. I know before CE went out of biz, they dynoed their y-pipe at around 20-21 hp gain to the wheels, then dynoed their y-pipe and high-flow cat at 24 hp gain to the wheels. This was on a stock 95 max, so if you have an intake and exhaust, those gains would theoretically be even higher than that. So, that shows that the high-flow cat does work. I'm sure that it flows more cuz my CEL tells me so!
