purchasing a new (narrow style) headunit. Need fitment guide

Hey, sorry if this is a dumb question but I had a $400 full sized head unit die on me and I want to go to the half sized mp3 player. How do I go about getting a kit for the half sized one?

I frequently do my own audio modifications with past cars. I dont want to ask an audio store cause I know they will pressure me into letting them install everything. Just need to know how to go about downsizing to the standard mp3 players. My assumption is there's a kit with a tray that will take up the other half of the free deck space, but I wasn't completely sure.
