Hi - I'm about to purchase a M35 with 30,000 miles from an Infiniti dealer. It has the OEM tires still on it with 5/32nds left. From what I've seen on the Net this is pretty amazing in itself. Test drove today - did not notice any "tramlining" but I didn't go over any rutted or grooved highway. I did get it up to about 75 - 80 and it drove fine. I've seen many posts about "tramlining" - should I get rid of these tires immediatlly? I live in upstate NY (way up) and we get a lot of snow. I was going to wait till Nov 1 or so and get new snows on it and then replace the OEM tires in the Spring. Also this car has a clear "bra" on the hood and front bumper it and I want to get it removed. Anyone have any experience with this? Looking on the Web it looks like this can be done but you better know what your doing. I don't want it to look like they removed it, if you know what I mean! Thanks in advance for any advice and information!

Welcome to NICO

The factory tires can last a decent time dependent on the owner. I have 21k on my factory RE050A's (G37) and they still have tons of tread. Yes, the factory tires will pull when driving over rutted roads which sux. I've replaced the tires on the wifes G35s with Hankook Ventus and they are doing great so far but I've only put about 1500 miles on them so far.

You should be able to pull the clear bra off by heating it with a hair dryer. I think there is a how-to on the 3M site on removal. Unless there is a problem with it then I would simply leave it alone as it is protecting the paint. Without it on there the paint would be pretty chipped.

Thank you for the advice and information. One more thing - should I ask the dealer to include an updated DVD for the Navigation system? Also do you know how often you should get a new navi DVD?

Thanks again,

I'm not sure how often they come out but it never hurts to find out and ask them for one. Mine has the HD Nav system, no DVD's to bother with.

Thanks so much for answering my questions !! I have to call a collision shop where the car was a few months ago to see what they did and if it's not major I'll have a M35 by the end of the week. I think may be the ones that put the clear bra on but I'm not sure. Thanks again, I have a feeling I'll have more questions after I get the car.

Thanks again,
The Navteq DVD comes out new each year in Oct. I don't believe you really need to buy a new one each year-unless you are a bit compulsive as most of us are about our machines. 7.4 is the newest edition. I'd stick w/the old edition and have the dealer (if he will) get you a newly updated one in Oct.

I'm not sure why you would scrap a clear bra. It may leave some lines on your otherwise perfect body, but it does protect against chips et al.

Hi - Thanks for the information. When I went to look at and test drive the car this weekend I can see the line for the bra, and so could my wife - which means it will probably go. I just called Infinit and they said this car came with a Premium package. I swear I did not see anything for the lane departure system or some of the other items listed on their website for the Premium package. I won't use most of this stuff anyway but just wondering if the lane departure system is a also known as Collision Warning System. Also, does anyone know how the Intelligent cruise control works - i.e., is it good or a pian in the neck? Thanks so much!

The lane departure system is a pain in the neck; it's hypersensitive-it beeps if you go near a painted line. I'm not sure what the Collision Warning System is other than the belts tighten and the brakes come on automatically if you get too close to someone; when in Intelligent cruise-but then I've got an '06, not a newer edition.

The Intelligent Cruise is kool. You set it and it keeps you @ your set distance behind the machine in front of you. If you get too close it actually brakes for you-but doesn't actually brake to a stop. Driving directly into the sun as it arises or sets and is level w/your grill will shut it off. Anything blocking (snow-dirt-mud) its window on the grill will disable it.

It's nice in busy highway traffic.

Thanks again for the information but looks like this was a false alarm. When I called Infiniti Customer Srevice they ran the VIN and said this came with the Premium package. They were wrong - it has the technology package and that's it. I can imagine the lane departure is a pain. Thanks again - good information for the future.

Personally, I like the LDW, but for those who don't, it can be disabled. Obviously this one doesn't have it anyway, so it doesn't matter so much. Regarding the Adaptive Cruise, I don't remember if the Tech package had it or not (I have an 06 M45 I purchased recently, but it is premium package). If it does and you don't like it, you can still use regular cruise instsead of adaptive. That said, it does take some getting used to, but it is usually nice, mine gives me fits if the vehicle in front of me is driving about the same speed as me, and it's probably bad for mileage on hilly roads because it detects the car in front of you slowing down in each trough and speeding up over each peak even if it isn't.

The dealer is making this purchase way harder than it needs to be. I found out this car had body work done ($2,000) in April - no major accident but the back quarter panel was replaced and the bumper buffed out and door paint blended. I'm willing to let this go but he's now mentioning a 2006 M35. I drove one and found it very hard to see the LCD panel in sunlight. The 2007 LCD panel was fine. Is this a problem with the 2006's.Thanks,

I have no problem with the 2006 M45 LCD panel in sunlight, but I had trouble with a loaner 2009 G35x LCD panel in sunlight. To be fair, the only real problem even then was that I wear polarized sunglasses. Perhaps you could have adjusted the brightness on that LCD to take care of the problem? Also, having the headlights on might make a difference, if you prefer to do that. I don't with my M45 (even though I always did with my Buick) for two reasons:1) because they have to be replaced by the dealer when they go out and I am sure that is expensive2) because the interior lighting dims when the headlights are turned on instead of dimming only when the auto headlight sensor detects dark

Thanks. This was a test drive a there were so many gizmos and gadgets I couldn't figure out how to adjet the brightness. Makes sense you can, just wanted to verify. Thanks again,
