I am in the market for a G35, but i wanted to get some opinions before hand. I have test drove a 2004 and a 2006. The 2004 was fully loaded with nav and wood grain. The dealer is asking 29899 for it. The ride was...wel lets just say that it was just that. I have a Lexus SC300 (95 yr)with 202,000 miles on it. No problems what so ever. but before I defected to Toyota I was an loyal Nissan driver. Now it time to come back home. I looked at the 350Z but heard very bad stories of how the front end wasnt well engineered. (Cousin has one also and is trying to get rid of it for a G35) Anyway the 2006 (asking price: 28000) felt like it had more horses but the cornering had a little kick to it. It felt as if the car teetered alittle. The big difference between the two was the 2004 had 17 in stock rims with Brembo Braking, the 2006 had 19 in none Brembo. The salesman for the 2004 advised me not to switch out the rims due to sensors located in the stock rims. They send info to the car comp, WHAAAATTT? NAH?????Is this true? Please help, what do I need to know and look out for in purchasing a G35? Sensors in rims, never heard of such a thing. Any info would be helpful, about the engine, exterior, interior, etc....

Welcome to the site. And, he was talking about the TPS system. There are sensors in each of the wheels' valve stem assembly and they send a signal to a receiver. If your air pressure gets below 30psi in any tire, a warning (_!_) displays in the dash. You can swap them over to new wheels, however. Sometimes its a direct fit, other times you can use a clamp/band method. Or, you can just forget about them and deal with the warning.

And, the '04 should have had 18" wheels if it had the Brembo brakes (6MT). The '06 does have more horsepower. Just do some searching around and you'll find a lot of information on both models. IMO, the '04 seems to be overpriced.

It did seemed over priced. Again I have been looking for a awhile, 4 1/2 mths now. The 2004, I just checked again, it is 18in's. The car is still their at the lot. They just came down a grand for the price. I believe they wanted that much because it is certified and has a waranty for 100 thousand miles. That makes sence now that you said something about the rims changed. There was a screen on the Nav system that told me about the tire pressure. So you are sayign that the sensors can be mounted on after markets? And horse power, what did they do to give the 2006 more?

I have a 2006 G35 6sp manual sedan. My last vehicle was a 92 Lexus 5 sp manual. This Infiniti is the best vehicle I have ever owned & I've been driving over 40 years.

The 2006 G35 has a Tire Pressure Monitoring System TPMS in each wheel that is monitored by the computer. If the tire pressure falls below around 30psi a light indicator on the dash comes on to warn you.

I believe that is what the sales person was referring to?

My factory tires are 235-45-18"

When I purchased my car in December, it was also from an Infiniti Dealer and is Certified Pre-Owned. The only thing mine lacks is Navi. With 37k on the ODO, the dealer had mine advertised for $23,595. After all their bullcrap fees, I was out the door for just over $26k.

As far as the sensors, yes. They can be mounted in the regular valve stem location on some aftermarket wheels. On others, like mine, you need to use a strap or band to secure them and use regular valve stems.

As far as the difference in the engines, I'm not 100% on all of that. But, again, you can search around and find numerous threads related to the topic.

i'd say it's roughly 4K over priced. how much do you really want wood, too?!?!

If you like the 04 haggle with the guy. That is there starting price, a fool would pay sticker on any car. You can get this guy down about $4,000.00 I bet. If it is still on there lot it isn't making them any money. Tell them the price of the 06 and tell him you will buy it for 2,000 less then the 06. Are they on the same lot? My brother just bought a Ford Fusion (don't bother I already know) fully loaded for the same price as their base model car. These dealers are hurting for business, you have all the leverage when you go in there. If you start talking with these guys they probably won't let you leave until you are in the car.

Don't listen to that car salesman, I think he is telling you what he thinks you want to hear or he is just talking to impress you.

There is a sensor but the sensor comes off and goes onto what ever wheel you buy. The only problem you may get is going to a low profile tire and it is lower then the sensor is high. I have 30 series tires and I had no problem.

These sensors, is there a website thats shows these sensors and how to install them on your own? Yes, I just checked, the car is still their. I am still searching though, I have my Lexus SC300 that I still have. I talked it over with my better half and we decided that it would be better that I wait and pay off the car (which will be in one month). Then sell and/or trade it off for the G35. I think we should sell it out right, I would get more money I believe. I have been looking thru this whole forum and found alot of useful info. I was curious about intakes. Pop chargers, I read one that said that one particular brand makes a whistling sound. I'm very interested in that. Not only for the sound but ofcourse the HP.....

Are there fog lights out there that can be installed to somewhat match the clarity of the HID headlights? That yellowish brown piss color does look right when you have HID lights on.....

They are on the other side of the valve stem. Unless you can take your tires off you won't be able to get to them. The ones on my car are square in shape about an inch wide. Including the threaded side it is about 1 1/2 to 2 inches long. It is a sensor that transmit to your cars diagnosis system. There are several types, some have batteries and the ones we have have a little gyro that keeps it powered. You have to be careful about the size of your tires because if you have low profile tires and you hit something just right it will damage them. I personally think 35 series is the safest size but if you go to a 30 series make sure you have a strong side wall.
