Purchase warranty for years 5 through 8 or not.

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

So 4 years have flown by and now the decision to purchase an additional 3 years for $1,500 or to just pay if something goes wrong.

I look around this forum and really do not see horrible problems with these cars. I know this will be a loaded question but how many of you with 2008 really have had problems that a local mechanic could not deal with? And those without warranty because of mileage, what was the average cost of repairs.

I would really hate to just give them 1,500 by the end of the month.

Never been a fan of paying more for an extended wty. Those 4 years will fly by much faster than the first 4 did... PLUS - the powertrain is still under warranty, right?
What is the deductable if you need something serviced that is not powertrain related?

My vote would be to save your money and just love your car and it will love you back.

I have never paid for extra warrenty on a NEW untitled car. As far a used less then 15000 i have. I only buy certified luxuary type cars. BMW, Infiniti, Caddy and others over the years. Ceritifed by the manufacture not the dealer. Example my Infinit is 2011 with less the 10k on it. II is ceritified by Infiniiti.
Why Ceritifed let some one else pay for the depreciaton still new car smell too.
Certified you get 6 years bumper to bumper and most of the time no deductiable.
I got the elite so that makes it 8 years bumper to bumper. I plan on keep this one a long time.
So ask yourself
How long am I going to keep this car.
What all can go wrong. More bells and whisles the more the elctronic part cost.
Do I plan on taking it to Infinit to have it worked on after warrenty is over.
And how much is peace of mind worth.

:gapteeth: Sounds like we bought the same model during the same time Kenike. Mine's also a 2008 AWD and the warranty will expire by the end of August. I did have some repairs done by warranty in the past and currently trying to get them to fix a problem that's gone undiagnosed/unresolved for a few months now. I've had the following warranty work done or being worked on:

1. Replaced bad fuel pump (very expensive if not under warranty since they had to take apart the gas tank)
2. Replaced light on mirror assembly (minor I think)
3. Replaced speedometer. Soon to replace tachometer (not sure if it's the same part but they'll have to do it again if it is)

I consider the fuel pump and tachometer/speedometer work more major, but if you haven't experienced major issues, $1,500 is a lot to spend for something that might not happen. For me, once my warranty is over, I'll be taking my car to a mechanic that I found is honest and does great work (or at least he did on my junky Toyota :gapteeth: )

I have a 2008 model and finally , the bumper to bumper warranty is almost over.
I paid $1640 to extend it for another 4 years which will end on Aug. 2016 or 95k miles which ever comes first. Bought the warranty from Daniella at Infiniti circle in N.J.

My Infiniti went to a lot of TSB , such as fuel filter was replaced 2x. The steering makes that grinding noise when turning right, shift sensor on 3rd to 4th gear was bad(| drive on M mode 98% of the time) . Bad front heat heat shield in the front brake that was covered by TSB also ( I got a free break sevice on this one including a new pad) I did not have any problem with the break in the first place, but my service adviser told me there is a TSB so he can save me another $$$ for the front brake job. ( TSB break pulsating when breaking during high speed driving :naughty:

Had minor issue of vanity mirror that fell off and was replaced under warranty.

So for me, getting that extended warranty at a great price from Daniella or Courtney is a great peace of mind. I bought it now while I have extra cash and forget about it than having the car break down when I am in a difficult financial situation.

There is no way you can get that price from any local dealer unlesss you put the quote on their faces.... :gapteeth:

BTW, i do not think Daniella in NJ works there anymore? I emailed her today and it bounced back....

How do guys pay for your maintenance service? How much for a 60K service?
I asked my service adviser and told me they charge $750
