Hey Guys, Ladies, I'm new to this forum and considering the purchase of a "G". I know all cars have their ideocincracies and was wondering what I should be looking out for in buying a "pre-owned" vehicle? I was thinking of a low mileage '04. Do they have any major issues I should be aware of? Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Michael

Slydogg:

I have heard that some 03 and 04 coupe manual transmissions, may have some issues. This is in the minority. On the other hand, some 05 - 07 coupe manual transmission rev up engines have some oil consumption issues. Again, this is in the minority. Many 03 - 04 model year owners are happy with their cars. So, are you buying a coupe or a sedan? Either way, there are tons of mods you can do to the car to make it look really nice. Don't let these issues stop you from buying the car. If the car still has warranty on it, i would say, go for it. Infiniti is relatively good at replacing defective parts---which speaks volumes for their customer service. I have heard of nightmares with other auto manufacturers. Most infiniti cars are fun to drive.

Welcome to NICO!

I would recommend getting the newest car you can afford. I would get an 05+ as they have fewer problems than the 03-04 years. Search around the forum for in-depth discussions on this very topic.

I bought my creampuff 2003 in May of last year with 7900 miles. Bought it sight unseen, flew out to Cali and drove it back to Baltimore (hence my screen name) I am now pushing approx 23,000 miles. I just changed the front brake pads and about to change the rear. Other than that - nothing to report - car still in new condition.

Hi Slydogg...I have an 04 Coupe and have not had any major issues with it so far. Had a window motor go bad, but was covered under warrenty. Most would advise to go with a 05 and up. Based on what I have seen here are some of the advantages of going with the 05....

Better Brakes - 04 brakes are very sensitiveREV UP engine with the 6-speeds (more HP)Real Aluminum trim vs plastic in the 04sAC/Radio controls are nicer (IMO) in the 05'sRadio is able to play MP3'sPossible a longer warrenty period

I'm sure there are some other reasons, but these are some of the things I would have liked to have on mine. Good luck and make sure you post some pics!! Some pics of the Vette would be nice too with the G!!
