Some punk(s) tried to steal my radio last nite!

Busted up the bezel to that part of the dash some. And the radio doesnt eject CD's anymore...:(

They didnt finish what they wanted an must have been scared away by a passerby.

I did a preliminary fix, so I don't have to drive to the meet with an open dash...

Actually at a distance the interior looks ok now.

So at least I can drive with a semi decent looking dash.

So now my car is parked within 8 feet of my window and my loaded AK-47 is lying by my bed...:thinker

I prefer the ASP 21" extendable baton with a retention cap. Nice and concealable but lethal if used correctly.

Glock .40 in the console for backup.

hehe, my buddy carries an ASP in his car, no one ever seems to know what it is, then they look at us funny when we explain it to them. : )

Oh, also, have you seen the titanium ones, better or worse than the steel. I haven't decided, the theory of power is mass*velocity^2. So technically, even though the titanium is lighter you should be able to swing it much faster which would in theory increase the damage you do, but at the same time, it depends on how much lighter versus how much faster you can swing it. If its 1:1 versus the steel unit, you'd do way more damage. : ) I dunno, just a thought. : )

I just carry the Invinsible Autolock, but I need to get something a little lighter. A baton would be great, anyone know where I can get one of those? I live in a REALLY bad area. I park the car behind my house (right under my bed window), with the autolock on, doors all locked. Luckily by me, Hondas are the car of choice to be stolen and raped/pilaged.

Yep - But until PD starts carrying them, I'm not convinced they're better. Incidentally, during a defensive tactics training I went to, the instructor put the ASP through a car door. Yes, THROUGH the door. Swung it at the center of the door (looked like a Chevy P/U door mounted on a wood stand) and the baton ripped right through the metal AND the inner panel. Friggin scary.

Apex, you could try Galls.com to start. I bought mine at a local law enforcement supply store. Check your local laws (they're illegal for civilian possession in some states).

See, thats how I feel AZ, technically by physics it should be better assuming theres a 1:1 change in mass versus velocity, but i just don't know. : ) I'm a classic steel guy I guess, maybe I"ll pick up a titanium one and see what can be done with it. Also, did the Instructor put a steel or a titanium thru the door? : )

Instructor was carrying the steel.

No one I know has heard of the Ti model. I would guess it's cost-prohibitive anyway.

Each person would have a unique optimized baton for their size/strength, but most people would do more damage with the heavier one. Most of the mass is in your arm anyway. Momentum (MV) matters. Would you rather hit an attacker with a broomstick or a bat? You just have to make the tradeoff between speed and bodily harm. Titanium is often no better a material, depending on application. For a weapon that depends on its mass, in which the strength and rigidity are already more than adequate, titanium is a waste of money. If you really wanted it lighter, just make the steel one thinner.

....and in that instance, the thinner walls would likely compromise the integrity of the design. Shins and wristbones are hard, and one wouldn't want to dent one's $65 ASP, now, would one?:D

p.s. - I'd take the broomstick over the bat, but that's personal preference, and a different set of tactics. Speed kills.:D

I'd also prefer the broomstick.

Especially in a situtation with a lot of room.

Those things are cool... I have some friends in Gainesville FL in law enforcement that carry them. Damn thing sounds like a shotgun when you extend them... I'd kind of like to get one of those myself.

My point was only that you would do more damage with the bat, given that you were going to hit someone with it once. That you prefer a broomstick in a fight is only where your preference lies between speed and momentum, and I wouldn't argue with your choice in that situation. But you can't deny that you can break any bone with a single blow from a bat, but that it would be difficult with a single blow from a broomstick.
