hey guys.

since i am involved in the punk movement, i would like to inform you guys of something if i may.

on July 1st and 2nd, 2004 bands including NOFX, Anti-Flag, Yellowcard and Bad Religion will be playing at Cal State fullerton (link for full list of bands performing http://www.warpedtour.com/7-1.html).

I will be helping out at these events doing things like handing out flyers, registering people to vote and other such things. If you guys wanna volunteer too you gotta sign up bc spots are limited. Its pretty cool bc you get in for free and its for a good cause.http://www.musicforamerica.org/event (scroll down for the event you want).

if you want to buy tickets for this event click here: http://www.warpedtour.com/dates.htmlits for charity btw

I also thought if enough ppl wanna come to this we can get a meet going if any1 wants. Thanks :)

yeah, their few punk songs that i like are "On the Brink" , "Anywhere But Here" and "Trembling". Come to think of it, I didn't see any of those songs on their albums. As far as them being Punk, i'd classify them as punk rock not Punk ;)

Yeah, The War on Errorism is one of my favorite albums. I listen to NOFX, Bad Religion, Deftones, some Pennywise, Anti-Flag and close-to-nothing of Yellowcard. My fav would have to be NOFX though. almost no yellowcard though bc their songs have turned fruity. I wondered what the hell happened to them, they were pretty punk when they were underground.

dammit! No authority zero? that would have clinched it for me. I'd go just to see Rise Against and Bad Religion though. Also like Alkaline Trio and Guttermouth.

We'll see, gotta see if any of my other friends are going.

Bad Religeon and Anti Flag are a good time. I can't wait to see the Vandals again. Sadly most of the shows around here ojnly have the vandals and no guttermouth or vice versa. :(

yes! I was waiting for someone to say this so's I can laugh!:D

who cares what he drives.

it's the "i don't give a **** attitude"

because he drives a Z3 does that mean he's supposed to be a "balla" or perhaps a "playa"?

the good thing about what's considered punk is that it can anybody

it's just the antinorm.

and if he kept making threads about lame german dance music, I'd shoot him.

I don't think social status or skin color or anything else like that should matter when one listens to music.

do what you want kids, not what MTV or any of those pieces of glossy toilet paper on the magazine rack tell you is cool.

I like Blink 182 and I'm not afraid to admit, I even say this while wearing a Ramones shirt.

my Thunderbird is very goth. SADNESS!

I'll be going to the San Francisco Warped Tour on July 3rd. Can't wait! (third time too!) Looking forward to seeing NOFX, Bad Religion, Early November, Coheed and Cambria, Thursday, and everyone else. Should be an awesome event...

PS - "On The Bring", "Anywhere but Here", and "Trembling" were all of YC's earlier releases. Now, all everyone listens to is the Ocean Avenue cd, their earlier stuff was much better. In fact, the On the Brink song was back when they had a different lead singer.

Actually, you can still get their second album Where We Stand(the one w/ "On the Brink" and "Anywhere but Here") that was re-released by Takeover Records. $10--->http://www.takeoverrock.com/store/cds.html

Yeah, last time I saw 'em live, he had this stupid bi-hawk (think two mohawks) and ran around the stage like an idiot. Plus, he had to do two back flips to make up for his bad hair-do...

Damn it, the back flips were cool when I saw them like 2 years ago. I don't have anything from their new albums. I have One for the Kids (which was somewhat poppy) and Where we Stand. Those are good albums, their new stuff is just completely sold out.

I'll admit, the backflips were cool the first time I saw them, but they got old.

My gripe with most "punks" is that they constantly talk **** about bands that make it into the mainstream. Guess what, that band made it big, and is going to make some money and do what they want. Music styles change, bands evolve, its just what happened. LIsten to 1964 Beatles and then 1970 Beatles. 2 totally different sounds, all from the same band.

LIsten to music for the way it sounds and the talent behind it, not because its cool to listen to music that no one has heard of before. It seems that too many people consider underground music to be the only good music. Guess what, its not. Alot of underground music is insanely annoying screaming backed up by a decent band.

Most of the bands that are making it big today and being called pop, at least in the punik/emo scene, I've been listening to for years and they're just now hitting the mainstream. Guess what, I still like their music even if they're what you'd call sellouts.

I went to the Civic Tour concert last weekend to see Dashboard Confessionals. You can ***** that its whiny music all you want, but I've never been to a concert that was quite like that one. It started with Hot Water Music which is a pretty hard sounding band that I've known about for no less than 3 years, followed by the Get Up Kids who put on a pretty good show, then Thrice who do a HELL of a job of getting people hyped, ending with Dashboard. I've never been to a concert that went through such a wide variety of music, and still had all the fans happy. Ever seen 400+ people singing along at a concert?

Its about the music, its not about whether mainstream discovers them, whether their sound changes over time, whether they are milliionares, or anything of the sort, Its about the talent and the feeling you get when you listen to their songs. If you like it, listen, if you don't try something else.

Amen. :)

I believe everything you just said. In terms of Yellowcard, I've been a fan for God knows how long. Just because they got popular doesn't mean I will stop listening to them. I still love them, although I prefer their earlier music to their most recently released CD. I do like a few of their songs, but still like the earlier stuff more. I've seen them live about five times, and I still think they put on a good show.

As for "whiney" music, I love it. I love Dashboard Confessional, and seeing them live myself was a truly moving experience to say the least. It's awesome to hear the whole croud sing along, and with emotion. Although they've "sold out" I still like 'em. I listen to the music I like, not because they are at a different stage of success, but because they have talent and write songs I love. Although others might not think of them in the same light.

Right before school let out, I was wearing my Tacking Back Sunday shirt and I got stopped by some goth kid. He laughed and told me something along the lines of "Hey, you're stupid for listening to such a ghey, sold-out band..." Which is funny cause he used to love them. I've never stopped liking them, so why should he?

I agree. When I said Yellowcard was sold out, I didn't necessarilly mean it as a bad thing. I may not like all there music anymore, but I'm grateful for their early stuff and congratulate them on their sucess in the popular market. Civic tour sounds like a great lineup. Now that schools out and I have more time, I'm going to try to go to more concerts again. I've seen all those bands, but it's been at least a year since I've been to a concert at all.

Oh, and I do still like the new Yellowcard stuff and Dashboard when I'm in the right mood. I really enjoyed Dashboard when it was just him solo though.
