I've seen their ad here on NICO a few times and I finally came across their website from another site and I read about them. They claim a much hotter and powerful spark than conventional plugs and all the gains that can come from it. Just curious if anyone has used these before and what the thoughts are.

Aren't these the plugs that are $24 each?? I remember seeing some that were REALLY expensive. I went with the stock OEM's.

Ive seen them tested on a 350z in magazines. The pulsar plugs do add hp. I just don't know about the long term affect they have on the car. I need new plugs and i'm on the fence as to which ones i should buy.

There is a magazine that did these plugs on a G. I think it was DS Sport? It got 6 whp i think? Not sure. Google it I'm sure you can find it. The website states better MPG as well. I tried to do this mod, but they didn't have the '08 on there. I was told I could buy the '07 plugs and they would fit...they didn't...returned them for a refund and only had to pay return shipping.

You are correct. It was dsport. They tested it on 3 cars. A n/a 4 banger. I think it was a honda. A turbo 4 banger. It was either an evo or wrx. And they tested a v6. That was our car. From the chart it was closer to 9 whp for our car. These plugs have been talked about on other forums. I've been skimming a few of them and i haven't seen any negatives. Just a few claims of snake oil.

What was the fuel efficiency improvement on the G. I found the article online but I have to buy an actual copy to see the results

I did see Pulstar's test results, pretty impressive I have to say. For $150, those improvements are effective. I calculated the average improvement in fuel efficiency of all cars to be 6.34% (4.2% eliminating the 2 possible outliers). In the situation that one uses 20 gallons every week and a half, that equals to an average savings of 43.9 gallons/year (29.1 gallons/yr). At $4.10/gallon, that's $180 ($120) saved, so they pay off within a year or so and they'll last the typical life of a spark plug. Sounds like a good investment to me just based on that.

Found the article, the G gained 5.1 HP...a bigger bang for the buck than an intake. Impressive.

Never really cared about MPG so i don't remember. A full tank lasts me 1-2 weeks.

Your right about gains in that chart. But I remember the mag saying something about 9hp. I don't know.

Heard/read about these too and on other forums. On the fence post still and need to see more hp results concerning G/Z's with these.

i don't need to see more results, i just need to see how long they last!.... i've heard of many tests where they do great but how long do they last? If you need plugs NOW just buy the stock replacements. Can't go wrong with long lasting iridium plugs.

I've heard some negative results about the life of these plugs. As far as I can tell, they do NOT use a precious metal center or ground electrode. Both of which are required for a longer life in a VQ as we have coil packs. I know I've mentioned this several times already, but the coil packs generate 2 sparks per 4 strokes in each cylinder. One is the traditional center to ground spark, but the other is a secondary spark going from the ground electrod to the center electrode. This is why using a plug with only a center electrode that is platinum or iridium is not a good idea. We need a platinum or iridium button on the ground electrode as well. The Pulstars do not appear to have this, which might make sense of the complaints I've heard about the longevity of these plugs.

They say their plugs will last just as long as a regular one, but they also say 50,000 miles...half of what ours are supposedly claimed to last.

I am a tech at a VW/Subie dealer. We installed a set for a guy on his 06 Outback wagen w/ the 2.5 turbo motor. (basicly an STI in wagen form) First we set the gap to what the instructions said. I think it was .025. After about 50 miles he was back / misfire codes.

We called the tech help line supplied w/ the plugs. The very uninformative girl on the other end had no clue what she was talking about. Long story short. We pulled the plugs and set them to Subaru spec. I think it was .035. A few thousand miles later and they are doing good so far.

I also work at an auto parts store at night. And I have seen 2 people come in w/ these plugs, looking for stock replacement. Both sets came in with an internal failure of the plug. You could shake them and they rattled. Needless to say they were causing misfires.

UPDATE

The Subaru Outback that had us install Pulstar plugs came in today w/ misfires. Pulled the plugs, and 1 was broken internally. It would rattle when you shook it. He had less then 4000 miles on them.

Pulstar = FAIL

I wouldnt buy them. I put them in my 06 6mt with motordyne lower plenum, spacer, and aem cai. Immediately the car started pinging and after 3500 miles my car started missing really bad. I took the car to the dealer and after diagnostics and testing and replacing the plugs because they were the problem. I got hit with a $440 bill since the plugs arent covered under factory warranty. I had to mail the plugs back to enerpulse to reimburse me and I just got a check back for 220. Do the math, no explanation from them, and I paid 175 with shipping to get the plugs, had them installed, 100. 400 diagnostic and replacement, to total 675 and all I got back was 220 with no explanation. I wouldnt make the same mistake if I were you, but maybe youll have better luck.

I bought the plugs but did not install, after reading this blog I called enterpulse to ask for a refund...30 days is there time period. I missed that time window by two months... Any body want to buy them? DG-1 $60 instead of $150.
