So i just joined, and already have some questions about these new pulstar platinum plugs i just picked up. Has anyone installed these on there vq? Have you noticed any difference or added performance? I plan on istalling these hopefully this weekend after i get my exhaust re-done. All your guys input on these would be greatly appreciated :)

Platinum plugs are good I use them only in #6 position because of the long term life, but they must be cracked every 2 years and must be installed with anti-seize compound because aluminum from the head can and does stick to plugs and if not cracked or anti-seize compound can be a costly repair.

The amount of power, heat dissipation, plug length, if kept to spec will not change much from regular plugs but maintenance will be less...but if you maintain your own vehicle with regular plugs you will see a rise in costs.

Also a single spark compared to a triple spark plug will put extra load on coil(s) as the spark area has 3x the area to build up electrons, but a single platinum wire that is tapered compared to a square ridge will fire at a low electron build up and the shape of the platinum tip is self cleaning. But

All said if you are doing regular maintenance the benefit is minimal with added expense.

Okay thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, you didnt really answer my question. All vq's in the 2001-2004 infiniti qx4's/ nissan pathfinders all reccomend ngk platinum plugs, thus not neading to using copper plugs in any of the cylinders. What i was trying to gain insight on, was if there was any difference between these pulstar platinums which claim hp and gas mileage improvements, over the OEM ngk platinum plugs. Anyone have these in their ride, and can comment on the performance and/or gas mileage differences if any?

Might want to do a little bit of searching . I would NOT put them in anything I own. I have seen many times cars loose power with them installed. Also I have seen other issues caused by these plugs. As long as the spark plug ignites the air/fuel mixture then no matter how much hotter the spark is it's not going to improve anything. Unless the old plugs that are removed are fouled out or worn to the point the gap is too wide then it's as good as it gets.
