Hi... I have a 1990 auto 240 hatch. vin JN1HS36P7LW121468 with milage at 125k

Car is stock except for the Injen CAI and Magnecor ignition wires.

I notice that when I accelerate in 2nd gear the engine seems to pulse. Instead of a steady increase in spead, there seems to be a decrease in power and the engine pulses. I ususally have to accelerate hard to avoid this. I am guessing that maybe my transmission is going as every time it shifts, there is a noticable lurch in the car.

Any ideas about what could be causing this.

Also when in neutral the engine seems to idle at about 1k when it has warmed up. I have backed off the idle adjuster to the minimum. In gear with my foot on the break, it idles at about 700rpm.

only happens in econd gear? that sounds like shift shudder. prob a mechanical condition. need to have pressures tested at trans.

Turned out to need a new O2 sensor.

This is old, but I like to post solutions to problems to help others.
