Hey guys im new to these forums so ill say a quick hello to everybody.

Ok well i have a 2000 N16 Pulsar Q and i'm looking at turboing it. As most of you know its got a QG18DE engine in it. What i really want to know is if it is worth installing a turbo kit, what sort of power increase will i get from it, will it be expensive, are there any kits out there that are just straight buy and strap on, how bad will it thrash my clutch gears and other internal workings. (you can probably tell i haven't had much to do with turbos in the past )

I haven't really modified my my car that much all i have done is as followed. I have added a K&N High flow pod filter which i have moved to the very front of the engine bay and have it heat shielded, i also have a 2 1/3 exhaust with a high flow cat and i have also installed a short shifter.

Any input will be greatly helpful guys

Thanks in advance

There is a post somewhere in here on turboing the qg. You get a good power gain but there is alota internal work needed (bored for larger pistons, fuel injectors, fuel pump, ect). your transmission should be ok, but you will need to upgrade the cluch. I would also loo into a SR20DET swap The cost of parts and professional install would be close to the same.

Internal work is unnecessary. How much boost you run determines whether you'll need new internals. I've seen a QG with as much as 10 psi on a T28 netting ~200whp with stock internals.

Clutch, fuel injectors, fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, engine management (piggyback, standalone), and the turbo parts themselves are all that's required.

Regardless, it's pretty expensive, and in AU you have plenty of solid engines you could swap or other vehicles you could use for a project. IMO, it's better to keep this car simple and get your modification fix on something more receptive to it.

Welcome to NICO!
