pulling timing questions

ok off to pull timing when i get home.does this seem right to everone here

1. disconnect tps2.start car3. adjust idle to 650rpm if needed4. connect tps and re-start car.5. point timing light to crank.6. lossen dis. cap7. push foward? and look for the timing marks to move to the left? ( is this retarding timing? no advance correct)8. re tite everything9. do the happy dance

yeah, you want the light to be more toward the red line (TDC) when doing it. Your also gonna wanna wait til its all warmed up. I beleive you want to check timing with TPS disconnected as well.
