I've finally got the time to get to LA where my 17" rims are and I've worn out my 16" tires enough to be able to feel like I got my money out of them.

So I really wanted to buy the Firestones but they are too expensive, saw too many negatives/drawbacks on the Kumho, so it looks like the ES100's are it, in 245/45 17. Any comments, are these going to be able to hold the load well enough?? Any experiences good or bad with these, I do know that they really look awesome and all the reviews on Tirerack are positive.

Thanks in advance...

No news about the tires, but I am looking at the same ones for my '04, when the NITTO's wear out (And it is looking like it will take another 40,000 miles to do that). I have 20,000 miles on them, and they still look new. I like the tires, except for the "sing".

Give us some feedback, when you have some miles on them.

All directional will sing [or frying bacon sound] when heel and toe feathered, why you look for soft non diectionals that will wear out by 20,000 miles.

I just turn up the volume on my Krako 8-Track player I have in my home-built boom box in the back seat. I can't hear it over my Black Sabbath albumn.:D

Yokohama AVS ES100 kick A S S !!!!! I've had mine for about 8k or so, and they are sweet. There are a few locals that also praise the ES100.

Way cool, I'm doing it, thanks for the info and I'll certainly post my impressions. I will be getting them mounted and than driving up to San Fran immediately from LA so the first 400 highway miles will be interesting.

Let us know how they are at 5,000 and 8,000 miles......the later is when the Men get separated from the rice BOY's tires.240sx have a different less agressive front suspension than the Q and the lighter weight ...........don't think because a certain tire [in 16-17"] has a larger load rating that the tire's designers ever thought you might actually use them on a 4300 pound car.

I know I don't have enough milage on my Yoko AVS db S2's to really comment on handling, but I must comment on the wet abilities.

These tires are the best in the rain I've ever had on the car. They make it SOOOOO much more consistant in the rain, they just stick.

at the rate i put miles on the Q, it will take me 2-1/2 to 3-1/2 years to get close to 10,000 miles(majority go on my company vehicle). the tires wet capabilities were a MAJOR selling point-i've had enough experiance losing the *** end with rear wheel drive cars!!!!

Now I see the problem...........as your rear tires get very hard and have no friction...........from C of F changes. Why factory specs fast wearing sticky tires, they don't want the average owner to keep the tires more than a few years at most.

Once tires are heated from use, the [revulcanization] clock starts ticking from heat cycles, oxygen and ozone..........think carefully about keeping the tires on the car for much over two year..........Cold locations are better [time wise] than places like California or Arizona.

Never had any tire last more than 2 years [and 28,000 miles].

The new M45 has 140 tread wear index tires......examining a few indicates [at 15k] at most 20k life.

I plowed through 80 yards of 4" water, Monday night at a bout 9:30 PM going 55 MPH. It felt like I was in my old boat, trying to pull up a skiier. Fortunately, no one was near. I bet my car displaced 5,000 gallons of water, in thos few seconds. No tire, made for a car, could have helped in that situation. My sheer weight of the car, and the brute force of the speed kept me straight, and I didn't let off, or make any small changes, and I "sailed" through, just fine. I tend to drive a little more aggressively tahn most in the rain.

The Q gives me confidence that my old Honda, never did. That FWD car would fishfront?, any time I got in a little water. I sure am glad to be back in a RWD car.

I've got about 6,000 miles on my ES100s. Still holding up fine with no feathering at all, unlike many of the cheaper tires I've used in the past. They are wearing fairly fast, but otherwise, they are outstanding tires. They are quieter and stickier than the XGT H4s they replaced. They are probably about the quietest tires I've ever used in fact. They wander a lot less on grooved highways to boot. Great tires for the money IMO.

There is a couple of 16" ones that were used in a photo shoot for Discount Tire Direct on eBay, right now! Do a search for Q45, and look in the tires/wheels section.
