Pulling the trigger - hope I don't regret this

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I just put a deposit down on a 2010 EX35 AWD Journey with bose/nav, premium, 18" wheels, and a few little things - Scarlet Silver and wheat for my wife. Her BMW lease is up on Monday and that's when we are picking up the Infiniti. She was tepid to the BMW when we ordered it but loved it near the end - deal on a new Infiniti was compelling against buying out the lease on the X3. She did like driving the EX35 though. Didn't like me playing with the nav.

I can just hear my 15 year old son's legs hitting the back of the seats now.

This is my wife's car and our ski trip car for the two of us. 3 people only around town.

I'll likely spring for the cross-bars and ski-rack.

You will love the EX but wait until your son(s) are 28 years old and you will really hear about the rear leg room. I had a FX35 before the EX and now with 4K miles on the EX I am looking for a FX35 or better yet a FX50.

i agree. in terms of almost everything else, you'll like the ex better except for when it comes to interior room. it's just crampped, no better way to explain it. i hate to give you second thoughts, but it's one of those things that you will NOT get used to. this is coming from a 5'10" 150lb man, 5'5" 120lbs woman and a 5 year old toddler so it's not like we're big people.

that being said, if you do get it, i hope you enjoy it!

I think that unless you are a pretty large person, the cars front is very comfortable, and I really like the cockpit feel to it, because it doesn't actually constrain me in any way - just makes controls more approachable, and makes car feel a bit more personal if that makes any sense.

In case you are an average, or slightly above average height (5.10 - 5.11) and sitting in front, the back seat behind you is best relegated to smaller kids or smaller persons however. They are very comfy seats mind you, just not much leg room if larger person sitting in front of you wants to sit comfortably.

I'm 6'1" and set the driver's seat to a good position for me and sat in the back - my knees didn't touch but it was close. My wife is 5'2" and when I set the seat roughly where she would be there was reasonable room behind it - meaning I could take it for a few hours if I had to. I remember when I was an undergrad getting 5 people into an original VW beetle.

My son had to ride in my convertible back seat the other day when we went to dinner and he didn't say anything but glowered a bit. The leg room wasn't as big an issue as was the lack of head room.

I'm going to get the ski-rack for the roof rails.

Its my wife's pick - I would have take the M35x as I don't care about being up in an SUV like position - but I like the EX35. My son also knows that if he says one word about the back seat he's going to blow any chance at getting a car when he turns 16.
