My chilton tells me to remove the crankshaft position sensor but does not show where it is in any of the diagrams (it just says from the top of the transfer case). I've removed all the harnesses, the starter, and the shifter, but still have no clue where the crankshaft position sensor is. Anyone know? Also when I remove the propshaft what should I use to plug the hole? The gear oil in there is relatively new (and expensive) so I'd rather not drain it. Thanks.

Just plug the hole with a rag, and I don't know if you did this, but I loosened the motor mounts and droped the engine down a few inches, and it made the clutch job MUCH easier. But remember, if you drop the engine down, keep an eye on your fan because it will rubb up against the shroud.

crank sensor is on the top left side of the bell housing where the trans meets the engine. left side as if your sitting in the car.

I'm still having trouble locating it. I pulled the exhaust so i could try from underneath but that didn't help any. Should I get it from up top? What does it look like? What color is the connecter for the wires. Any help is appreciated.

I have an s13, isn't it only mounted on the bellhousing if its an s14? Probably should have mentioned that to start with.

So is it mounted on the back of the engine block above the bellhousing for the obd I cars? Can I pull the transmission without removing it then?
