Pulling the top off the center console?

Greetings All. i have a 2013 S model so there is no camera button on the center console. I would like to relocate the Sport switch up to that position where there is already a cutout for it. Anyone ever done this? I found a brief instruction in the FSM but it's not clear if you can remove the top with the console still attached to the floor. Any help is appreciated...
