i bought my 240 about 4 days ago. the guy i bought it from said that all it needed was the crank to be replaced. so, i get home and clean the car out. i find the radiator in the passenger seat along with the intake hose(idk if its called that)in the hatch. along with the intake i find the gas can, head unit, and a couple of peices that look like aien technology. the new crank was included with the car and it looks pretty clean.

so i downloaded the .pdf file of the 240sx manual to remove the engine and transmission so i can get started putting the new crank in.

now, this is my first ever car and as far as this goes, its my dream car, with alot of problems. and i dont know **** about hands on work.

the manual said to remove the auto transmission harness connector and clamps, which leads me to my first question.

i removed 2 out of three of the connectors. all but the bottom red one. how do i get that one off? i've tried prying the **** out of it and putting all the power i've got into getting it off but it wont budge.

also, where are the clamps located? what do they look like?

Well to be honest with nissan connectors, they are a pain to get off. trust me. a flat head screw driver and some prying normally does the trick for me.

Here is a nice guide to removing the transmission and engine as a whole. I know it is a manual transmission but it is the same idea but a couple small things like connectors or the gear selector. It helped me remove everything when I did the third engine swap in my car.

glad to see a new engine builder in the works man..welcome.....are ya gona refresh the whole block..ie new rings ect?....or just the crank?..if just the crank..slap in some new bearings while your in there and try not to pull a piston out..putting pistons back in from the bottom is a pain...if ya have any questions other than that connector..we are here to help..

ps. be good idea to inspect the timing chain/oil pump/water pump/thermostat and replace all if needed.

good luck.

thanks for the suggestions guys. just yesterday i had a friend come over and help with the connector and we got it off.

as for the rest of the engine im either going to pull it and save money for brand new everything. i.e. pistons, cams, pully set. along with getting a turbo kit, intercooler, BOV, wastegate, etc.

im either going to do that or spend 2 grand on an offline sr20det. keep the ka out of the engine and clean it up and sell it. keep the sr out and add aftermarket stuff.

cant really do all the big stuff until my dad gets our shop cleaned out.
