Today, I'm heading to the local pick and pull to pull a lower control arm and a connecting rod...

What will I need toolwise to pull those from a beater 240? Whats the best way to go about pulling them?

a connecting rod, you will need to disassemble the entire motor to get to these. More than likely you'll need a full set of sockets and wrenches in hand.

I don't think he meant a ConRod, more likely the TC Rod. Which I just replaced last night myself. You'll need a socket set, with a deep 14 or 16 mm deep socket and 2 14 or 16mm wrenches. I don't know the exact size but it's somewhere around there. And it's not too hard, just a bit of muscle...a breaker bar may help though if you're a bit on the frail side. Mine hadn't moved in a decade and a half so they were settled, to say the least. :)

Yeah... definitely needed that breaker bar. Those things are pretty difficult to get off.
