I am getting ready to pull my motor and was wondering if it would be ok to lift it out with the transmission attached? I only have the car up on jack stands so not much height and don't got a trans jack. What are some recommendations?

i pulled my motor out while I had the front wheels on ramps and blocks behind the rear wheels and you just have to continually check the clearance and be VERY careful. if you forget to unbolt/unplug anything or get hung on firewall and stuff it'll pull the car right up and off the stands.

But yes you can. or at least I've help pull a dohc and transmission outta one car ... and also a sohc and transmission out of my car.

It is the best way when the motor needs to come out. Just make sure to also remove the transmission cross member and wrap some rags around the back of the transmission tail-shaft housing so the oil doesn't drip all over the place.

Before pulling the motor, remove the radiator from the car; it's very easy to destroy the radiator if by any chance the motor swings forward.

alright...just wasn't sure if it had enough room. I am no engineer, but I am a espiring mechanic. I am getting as much taken off before I pull it. Thanks for the reassurance guys!
