Hey Infiniti guru's I finally got my mystery injector problem fixed .It failed completely on the way home friday.Until then it was intermittant and leaking fuel after shutdown like a mutha'Ive changed oil every other day for 2 weeks!!!!

Heres the question .Is there a tool out there that clamps on to the two rectangular holes on either side of the injector to make a pull easy ??

I mangled the old injector pretty bad .. and yes I soaked it with liquid wrench over night like Carlo's says on fuzzycats. All i had that could get in there was a pair of needle nosed pliers .It was the front cylinder passenger side injector (Beside the Oil filler cap)FYI,,, you dont need to grind the plenum on that injector. both screws are accesible and the injector will come out if you remove the bolt on the plenum thats right up against the injector location.

I bought a complete set of ORings for the remaining 5 injectors and want to pull them and be able to reuse them

The thing is, that the VG30 has an aluminum intake manifold, so taking off just one bolt might cause potential warpage. Just a heads up if you have a vac leak soon.

Thanks .It was cold when I took it out and put it back .Hopefully I didnt hose it up.that injector just barely wouldnt clear.I'm gonna fabricate a injector puller for the rest of the pull's.

With that and a dremel I should be OK.Have you ever pulled the plenum ?Is it a several day job ?This is my daily ride and Im only off 1 day a week .. ooiy .I still think I have a leaking injector somewhere , oil has that faint fuel smelleven after changing oil after replacing the failed injector .This is driving me nutzo. cant afford any more injectors for awhile.

Haha, my car does the same thing.

I have never pulled the plenum on my car, but doing some work on chevy 350 with alum manifolds and cast iron head I always learned to do the proper torque down sequence.

I dont think its as much of a big deal on the VG as it is on the SBCs.. Still no reason to take a chance...

I dont think pulling the plenum is terribly hard.. Probably pretty straight foreward, just start removing stuff, unbolt it... tug.. remove a hose.. tug... remove a hose and keep going until its all done..

You mgiht search the Z32 forum here on NICO to see if theres any info about pulling it.

Yea I think there has to be a leak somewhere cuz my car is hard to start after short trips.

I've been looking around on the internet about fuel injector rebuilding/cleaning services and have found several places that will "rebuild" the injectors for about $20 each and most have about a 1 or 2 day turn-around time.

I think mine might be leaking a little also as my car is kind of hard to start back up after running it for a little. I'm going to look into this as I have 3 cars right now and can just drive another one for a few days.

Im not sure how hard to start after driving a little connects to a leaky injector .When all this started it was after the car sat for a few hours when I started it it would run on 5 cylinders till it burned up the excess fuel .when it sat over night it started just fine because the fuel that dripped out while the fuel system drained down would seep past the piston rings into the crankcase .When I pull the oil dipstick and smell the end its a gas smell .. not oil ..that bugz the shizz outta me .. oil and gas makes VERY thin oil ..

If "Rebuilding" an injector is just cleaning and new ORings what the use ??I doubt they replace the internals for 20.Im looking at the old one I pulled and I dont see how it can be done . I got a full set of Orings for 25.

This is from one of the sites that I found:
www.witchhunter.com wrote:What are the symptoms of an injector that requires service?

Dirty or partially clogged injectors can show up in many ways and may include:

"check engine" light or cylinder misfire codePoor idleDenotation (knocking or pinging), causing possible engine damageLow speed hesitation and surging issuesEmission problemsLoss of performanceIncreased fuel consumption

Leaky injectors can cause:Hard starting, especially when hotPoor idleEmission problemsIncreased fuel consumptionExhaust odor

External Injector leak:Are a fire hazard and should be discarded. These can not be fixed by cleaning.
They don't rebuild them. Well, once again, here's from the site:
www.witchhunter.com wrote:Does WitchHunter Performance "rebuild" fuel injectors?

Nobody actually rebuilds gasoline injectors, since they are a sealed unit and can't be totally disassembled What we do is inspect, test, ultrasonically clean and replace any serviceable parts, (such as filters, o-rings, & pintle caps). Some companies call this rebuilding, or even remanufacturing and charge over 5 times our price. We replace all the parts that can be replaced. The truth is, you are getting the same thing.

Beware of places that claim to "Rebuild" gasoline injectors.
