Hey all, I just finished installing my CA but when I ran it the engine had a pretty loud knocking noise.. I checked the oil bearings already and decided to investigate the head.. (I think maybe a coilpack bolt fell in there while pulling the engine from the clip) I hope its nothing serious.. the clip was from Jarco and has 77,xxx km on it and looked perfect, but then looks aren't everything.. I've had multiple experiences with SRs (used to work at XAT here in Tampa) but this is only my second time on a CA.. Anyone have ideas on making this job easier on me? Or maybe someone fellow CA'ers could come by!

Any help would be great!:icesangel

Why is your CA making noise? Is it the lifters? Is it smoking? Why don't you do a compression test and see where the bad cylinder is. If it's going to be anything, it'll be the #3 cylinder with issues. Or even worse, a melted piston.

It sounded like it was coming from the head.. it did smoke a little.. I'm just checking under the head to make sure nothing actually fell it there when I was pulling out the plugs.. It's hard to believe that I have a messed up engine at only 77km.. My redtop SR ran perfectly for 2 years with no problems except a clutch..

man pulling the head isn't an easy task... it CAN be done in afew hours, but its alot of work! I would test EVERYTHING else before I pulled the head! get out the compression tester:)

Oh yes, it is fun, I did it twice in a week!! lol. But, If you get good, you won't be so bummed if you blow a head gasket. Look on th bright side. Vut, as was said before, look at all the options first.
