Ok so I got everything unbolted and the motor is just chillin on the mounts which are unbolted from the motor. I hooked the hoist chains to the intake manifold and around the exhaust manny bolts and went to town. Also had a jack holding up the transmission. I can't seem to get the motor and transmission out as one. I'm sure I could get the motor out with the transmission detached but everyone ive talked to said it wasn't necessary. It is an auto transmission so its got a big transmission pan which looks like it's gonna get caught on some power steering lines running under the car. I got a 2 ton hoist, a 4 ton load leveler and some beastly chains so wtf am I doing wrong. I ran outta daylight so I had to quit for today but I figured I'd post and hope for an answer so I'd have a better attack plan for tomarrow. Anyone know if the auto transmission has to be unbolted to pull the motor or if they can come out together. Also does the exhaust manny need to completely be removed, I just unbolted it and pushed it to the side nothing is connected. Thnx in advance for any advice you might have.-Rob-

From memory the auto trans has 2 wires that run to the lower portion of the radiator u have to remove those from the radiator. As well as from some bracket holding them in secure place near crossmember. Drain atf fluid.unbolt front section of the driveshaft to trans.

Radiator and driveshaft are completely outta the car. I crawled under it again and cant find anything thats still attached. The motor seems to just be sitting on the mounts and the transmission is just sitting there bolted to the motor (the crossmember has been taken off). I dunno what I'm doing wrong but I can't get the transmission to clear the front crossmember. I've been pretty much trying this by myself so maybe I just wait for some extra hands to push the car, jack up the motor and tug on the hoist to get this friggin thing out. If anyone knows ne tricks to pulling this thing ezier please chime in. Also I fed some chains through the intake manny and exhaust manny making it harder to adjust the load leveler properly. I cant seem to find a strong enough point just to hook the chains in anyone got ne suggestions or know where the best place to hook the hoist chains to is?

If everything is unbolted it should come out without many problems. I use a bolt on the back of the head and then one on the front of the head to hook the chains to. You really need at least one other person there to help level things and pry with a wrecking bar or something to help ease it out. Also, when coming out with the transmission, you will be at a big angle and you need someone to make sure the tail shaft clears all parts of the engine bay.
