Ok so my tear down of my SR has gone from just replacing all gaskets and seals to rebuilding the whole entire thing from the ground up. I have a question when it comes to a pulley kit. I would like to order the lightweight Greddy set but blue does not go with my theme so I would get them powder coated in a royal purple to go with the rest of the car. The question is should I get the Greddy set and get them powder coated the purple like I want or get the ISIS set for like $250 cheaper and get those powder coated? Money really isn't the issue, its just I havent done much reading about pullies so opinions would be nice. Sorry for the length.

Thanks
Andrew

I heard they throw off the balance of the motor. Don't quote me but, some motors out externally balanced with pulleys, putting lightweight pulleys throw that off.

Never heard that but you could be right. If thats the case tho I wonder why they dnt make regular weighted pullies for those who want to keep balance. I'll dig further into that. If I were to go with lightweight pullies tho the question still is since I'm powder coating them should I spend the money on greddy or just get isis since once powder coated they wnt be noticeably different. Is it that major or an area were the two brands will be that much different?

IMHO, they're just pulleys, research into what they're both made of and see if there is any difference in construction. I'd get ISIS
But definately look up the balance issue.

My friend only did a crank pulley and it just made it better on gas and easier to cruise 30mph in 4th gear.

Ya I've heard a crank pulley is good to do which I plan on getting on as well probably from ado but I want the accessory pulleys to powder coat them n help clean up the engine bay. But I dnt wanna get the isis version if they are not going to hold up like the greddy ones will.

eh, all lightened pulleys have looked the same to me.

My friend's unorthodox pulley looks just like the one I bought off ebay.

Ya and I dnt think I've heard of a cheaper pulley breaking off the altenator or anything. I think ill get the isis ones and have them powdercoated to my liking.

Sounds good, only thing I will say about powder coating is I read that powder coating wheels can cause changes in the alloys and could weaken them. However I'd ask someone who has done it for a while and has seen and done it all. That's hearsay at this point, not sure how hot they get anyway.

Theres alot of different ways to powder coat now a days. They even have low temp powder coating that can do plastics. Normal powder coating of metals I read was about 400 degrees. I'm sure professionals could enlighten me if it is a good idea to do it or not.
