I figured it probably had been. Just my 2 cents worth, frankly I dont care what people do, at least those cars are good for a laugh or 2. Whoever makes those big spoilers is probably rich though!!

mclaren f1 had a gtr version(it was race only)chevy had a gtr concept vehiclethats all off the top of my head

now gt, gts, gta, gtb, gtc, etc. have all been used a whole lot. gtr is not so common. i think is belongs to nissan.
Don't forget about the oh so sweet, Mercedes Benz CLK GTR pictured below. A car worthy of the GTR name.

man you guys are so out of it. dont you know aluminum wings are an easy 20hp? and dont get me going on stickers.

also i dont think nissan has direct ownership of the gtr badge, but the ones i see look exactly like the skyline badge. i think that is more the point. if they want to call something a gtr go for it just come up with a different design.

and these posts are good for a laugh. always somebody coming on swearing, and trying to look hard.

i saw an old Datsun hardbody with GT-R badges. the guy was cool though and it had some stuff done. BUT you guys know that the Skyline wasnt the only GT-R true, the badges used are from the skyline, but there are plenty other Gt-Rs out there. with that said, i saw a CRV type R the other day. i didnt even know they had imported those. guy had JDM exhuast, JDM tail lightgrills, JDM antennas(four of them). thats all i saw cause the thing was going so fast.

LMAO, I didn't either. Ugh, what goes through peoples minds. I guess he would be a "wanna be" rather than ricer. I've seen tons of wanna be GNs, I used to love to pull up next to them in my GN. They always tried to look all hard, but, I know that they knew that I knew thiers wasnt real. You cant mistake the sound of a GN for starters, as many other tell tell things.....

What kind of times did you get out of your GN? I had a regal t-type that was supposed to run high 12's, but I traded it off and never got to find out for sure. I only raced it once, and that was against my dad's vette. I run him down from at least a 5 car lead he pulled out the hole and beat him by about 2 feet. He couldn't believe it. I even messed up out the hole!! You had to "know" how to launch those cars. hehehehe:boink

Just because nissan has used a GT-R badging doesn't mean it 'belongs to them'

It's pretty much just an extra that signifies a trim level, if you will.BMW is coming out with the M3 GTR street version.

yeah, i knew i forgot something.

ultima gtr=kit car, not around as long as skylinekawasaki gtr1000=motorcycle, not around as long as skylinebmw m3 gtr=not out yet(except racecar), not around as long as skylinembenz clk gtr=racecar(like mclaren), not around as long as skyline i would say all those prob dont add up to much(in gross tonage) compared to the skyline. i know nissan doesnt own the gtr(then it would have a little c with a circle around it,lol), but the other guys should just avoid it out of respect. other guys not including the lemans prototypes, wicked kit cars(even if it does have a dang 'ol chevy v8), and handbuilt million a piece supercars. they are welcome(according to me) to share the gtr badge simply because they rock too. the whole thing is kind of like the doofusses at pontiac who decided gto would be a good name for a big iron turd. that should have been left to ferrari as they had really coined the term "gto". now, few remember the ferrari gto(as compared to the pontiac).

all said and done. any gtr badge on the steet ought to be on a nissan. period.

the car ran low 8's in 1/8 before I went into the engine, added a bigger turbo, cam, heads, and lots of trans work. i never ran it after that, but, I'm sure it would have gone low 7's......high 6's with a front mount intercooler. I owned it for 11 years, it was my first car. The HKS SSQV was a cool thing too. Most Buicks don't have BOVs :P

yeah, the SSQV is so sweeeeeeet. People ten to look at a GN kinda funny when they hear that thing!! Needless to say, I couldnt get anyone to race me on the street if they heard it. it sucked, that car was soooooo fast and everyone knew it, no fun at all :(

i love the fact that they're black. they look mean as hell. i saw one and it was making a turn and as soon as it got around the turn and started going straight, i heard the turbo spool up. soooo damn nice. i want one so bad, just to play around with. i like the way the rear end uses the torque to lift the bad end and better the launch.
