just did this on the car. purpose was to access the 2-3 accumulator and now that i've done that, probably also a wet [and i do mean wet] rehearsal for a valve body upgrade.

i made this before starting. there are 2 different bolt lengths securing the vb to the case.

here's what you've seen when the screen is off. the connectors are a b*tch to separate. i treid, but ended up breaking all the retainers off. the plastic is very brittle. the connex themselves not damaged, though. after much internal debate on the pros/cons, i tack bonded with permatex gray on re-assy. there seemed to be enough of a friction fit anyway, and supposing the small amount of bond doesn't float away--it'll be enough to keep from pulling apart on those 2g skid plate maneuvers! the temp sensor is in the upper left.

VB removed! those are the accumulators in the lower left. the three right most ones have springs between them and the VB that fall out [fsm doesn't mention, but i suspected they would]. i sued vaseline to hold them in against gravity when putting the VB back up.

here's those 3 springs and the pan side of the VB.

and the case side. the shift solenoids are in the upper right. there is a paper gasket to the case that is quite fragile [blackish part around the 'upper' valve body].

don't forget this on re-assy. the manual valve will slide all the way back in the case if you tip it during install.

like i said in the other post, this can be done on jackstands, but you've really got to want to....

Great pictures! Doing that on a jackstand is like doing open heart surgery in a pup tent.

Fluid doesn't look too bad, but color balance can lie.
