So I'm thinking of ordering the McCulloch 6000K HID Kit. Has anyone gotten pulled over for HIDs and if so what "K" did you have?

Anything above 6000k is just asking for trouble. You may also get pulled over during the color burn period of the 6000k's.

It really depends on the strictness of enforcement in the areas you drive in.

Usually around the first 45 seconds after firing up, the HID's are VERY blue until they heat up.

Ahhhhh I see. Do you guys think that 6000k would get you pulled over/ noticably ticket worthy?

Here in Hawaii it's a 50/50 depending where you are on the island. In Waikiki it's a definite ticket! I have 5000K and it's perfect in my opinion. High light output and great diamond white color, not that 8000K-12000K blueish/purpleish crapola! Keep in mind that most factory HID set-ups are 4300K, so base your decision on that.

That's why I've opted to stick to OEM 4300k....its nothing "special" but light output vs. cosmetic appeal is what appeals to me...

Bleh 6K or more is the way to go. Why would you want to spend money on something that won't even be noticed?

As far as color goes, 6k is the diamond white throughout. 4.3K and 5K differ depending on the angle you look at them.

I upgraded to HID's for more light output, thus meaning more visibility/safety. 5000K is a HUGE step up in looks compared to stock puke yellow halogens. You can definitely tell that my car is running HID's. 6000K+ looks very "ricey" in my opinion. Of course everyone has their own opinion on this matter, but I personally don't like that look.

Does anyone know what the stock Kelvin for our HIDs? I've done three HID conversion in the past myself. One was 8K (Acura CL) and the other was 9K (FJ) and I converted a projector style fog ight to HID (8K) I've never gotten pulled over in any of the two vehicles. Lucky I guess

Here in Florida you don't really get pulled over for HID's.. They're more worried about smacking ya with speeding tickets!

Here in jersey u probably won't get pulled over for them. But if you get pulled over for speeding.. the cop will probably give u a ticket for every single thing he dislikes about ur car. So a speeding ticket will result in a bunch

Haven't had any trouble; but I do look behind me when I go past a cop...

Can't help but feel a little guilty. Luckily there are a lot of nice new cars in my neighborhood with stock HID's that are pretty bright so I think I blend in just enough. Better go find some wood to knock on
