Pulled my head, Hows it look?

Discuss the RB20, RB25 and RB26 series engines.

Pulled off my head to change the head gasket and probably get it port and polished. heres some pics. Everything ok? what can you tell me about my engine based on these pictures?



















The oil here in the intake collector and the manifold worries me alittle is this normal?

Pistons look Great, no valve damage, Oil in the collecter is normal to prevent it u need to get an oil catch can, It does look like it has been run pretty rich at one point of time but over all it is a very clean motor and should be good to go as soon as u put it back togeather.

valve stem seals were on their way out, carbon build up on pistons makes me think that.other than that looks good.

Any idea how much I can expect to pay a shop to port and polish my head? Thanks

Depends on how much better or WORSE their work accomplishes?

A proper PRECISION job with lots of individual flow bench tests should be 2 hours per port..............but few will pay 48 hours to achieve the ultimate.

A level II extrude hone of intake and head will be around $1600 but you must strip head and reinstall valves springs etc.
