So i pulled the head to replace the headgasket and check for warping the most gap i could find with my strait edge and feelers was .15mm and i think the limit is .2mm so i am going to try to just replace the headgasket and not have the head milled. mostly becaue i need to keep it as low buck as possible due to my wedding takeing all my cash..

is this a bad idea?

and can i reuese my current head bolts i am having a hell of a time finding replacments for the KA Autozone has them listed as made by felpro but they dont stock them and cant order them... checker has nothing in the system nor does napa... the dealer is closed today and i really want to get it back on the road for monday...

they are torque to yield bolts if i remeber correct. that means they stretch right?

is there some trick to reusing them like retorquing to a slightly higher number or something to compensate for the stretch?....pain in the but is what it is.............

thanks!

ohh i forgot its a 93 vert if it matters..

if the limit is .2mm then you going to have milled if not your going to have the same proablem again,on the head bolts you can only use them twice once from the factory and if you or someone before u did a rebuilt, you going to have to get new bolts,Autozone or any other part store don't have them they have to be from the dealer Cause I did the same thing on my rebuild and the dealer was the only one that had them,so what I'm saying is don't go cheap on it,more problem down the road.

If the limit is .2 and your at .15 you should be fine, unless you meant .02 or 1.5.

umm... ya I would get the head milled without a doubt. you could prolly get away with using the bolts but not recommended either.

why are u replacing the head gasket? was it blown? if so, check the head surface where the gasket was blown if ur not going to resurface the head.
