Well the ka24e is acting up. Usually when I start it up cant give it any gas without it spitting black smoke out of the exhaust, just puffs though, not a steady amount. It bogs at lower rpm's, and the CEL will come on/off a lot. Usually when I start it the CEL will come on and stay on until I drive it a few hundred feet then it will turn off. Ive done all the usual tune-up stuff, plugs cap/rotor o2 sensor, seafoamed it etc. It runs fine at anything over 1500 rpm's id' say. Any info on what it could be?

is it black, or dark blue? Also, check the code it's throwing, that would probably be a good place to start.

Does it still run like that right after a long drive on the freeway? Sounds like its running way rich, maybe a leaking injector? Do a rail leakdown test with a fuel pressure gauge.

also, check the resistance of the coolant temp. sensor when hot and cold, and make sure the maf is giving a good signal and has a good ground

Its black smoke.

Usually seems to run a lot better after long drives. I will check those things.

I'll check those soon as I can, living in the dorms now and don't really have a place to work on my car at the time being.

Also when I did a tune up yesterday, did a compression test an got 170 in all cylinders. And in cylinder 2 + 4 it seemes as if the plugs had oil or gas on them, any ideas?

if you have 170 compression, it's definitely not oil. brand new is 179.

You're running rich for some reason... are you sure it's the right O2 sensor? Try unplugging it and see if it runs any differently. Also, try unplugging the MAF and see what happens.

i am with daedalus on this. sounds like a leaking injector. poss maf or ect issue but with it being cyl specific injector more likely. oil could be from valve cover or valve seals. i have not seen a swirl control valve stick in the open position but i imagine it could cause that issue.
