I guess this should serve as a public service announcement.

Saturday afternoon whilst I was napping (those of you over 30 with kids understand) my father in law answered the door for a server who gave him a photo radar ticket for me. This is my 3rd ticket ever the other two were both in 1996 within a month of each other.

The ticket is for failure to stop on red. I looked at the video and I made a protected right turn without coming to a complete stop. The cross traffic is turning left on a signal. I roll up to the red light and almost stopped I was going 15 mph when I made the turn.

So watch out! :yesnod

Damn, that sucks. I wasn't aware that photo radar would catch that, but i guess it makes sense. What intersection was it at, if you don't mind me asking?

I just got my first speeding ticket a week ago, time for online traffic school :frown:

Yep me neither! That is why I bother posting it on NICO. I'm not crying about the ticket just want to warn you all that the photo radar at intersections can catch rights on red when you don't stop.

Not sure if I will go to school or just pay it and save school for a real ticket. I'm not sure this ticket gives points on my license have someone checking for me.

The intersection was

40th street and Broadway Road in Phoenix AZ.

Yeah, there are a couple intersections where people run them regardless of those cameras. I hate them because sometimes turning left you just face the HUGE flash that illuminates Their(the people running a red) plates. <-----I've had people almost hit me in the other left turn lane because they are being blinded by the flashes.

well the thing is that the cameras require you to come to a complete stop before the white line, then push out and stop again while looking out for cross section traffic (even if they're making lefts and no u-turns), then proceed on about your business. Problem is that the cameras are not consistent. some people get caught and some don't. Not to mention the times when they flash for no reason at all.

Yep, I went and parked at the intersection for lunch yesterday and watched about a million changes of the light. The thing only takes a right without complete stop on red picture in the first 5 seconds after the light turns yellow.

Well, that sucks. Is it an actual video, not just a picture? Hadn't heard of them upgrading the red-light cams to those real-time video (at least where I've driven), I'll have to be on the lookout.
Being the trouble raiser I am, if it was only a picture I would probably call in and, while not admitting or denying anything, ask how they can prove that I had not stopped before making the turn.

Thank you for the information. I will have to be more careful in the future. :)

Its video, the car in the video slows to almost a stop. Then makes the right turn cause the cross traffic is all turning left on their left turn arrow. It is called a protected right, should be able to make it without a stop.
