PS2 or Xbox?

I want to get a video game system but cant decide which one. I like GT3 and Toyko extreme racer zero on PS2. I havent really played much of xbox but it seems like all their games are shooters. But people say that xbox's graphics and technology are way beyond PS2. My favorite kind of games are realistic racing ones that you can mod and customize the cars. I thought project gotham racing on xbox was weak. So which one would you guys get if you couldnt afford both?

XBOX OWNS ALL!!!!!!! but PS2 is pretty cool, I like Vice City on it alot, hell, who doesen't!

wow, tough one. well I would love to have an Xbox, but I went with a PS2 because I have more faith in sony's ability to release great games. there are only a few on xbox that I realy wanna play. I'll get one some day, but for now I'm happy with the PS2. By the way, graphics only make a good game better, but if the game sucks, good graphics won't save it.

really makes no difference at this point b/c all of the next gen systems are coming out in like 1 year. Xbox 2 is gonna have Mario online and Grand Theft Auto World though

XBOX XBOX XBOX XBOX:D Sega GT Racing and PGR are awesome games. I think its better if you use your own soundtrack on SegaGT as the music gets really repetetive.

PC ownz all, consoles are for little kids.PC has by FAR alot better graphics, ALOT better gameplay and internet gameplay.

well now you can use your game systems on internet also. and you have a controller, which is a hell of a lot better than the keyboard/mouse (damn, I used to be a hardcore quake player, I can't believe I just said that...)

Which is better? I don't see the great improvement on graphics in the Xbox over Ps2. But anyway, IMHO gameplay is hell of a lot better on PS2 than Xbox. I've played both, and I didn't like the Xbox controller. And the end all for me was GT3. GT3 is by far the best racing game on the market, and will only be outdone by GT4. PS2 has it, Xbox doesn't. Enough said.

yeah, and the p0rn is great too.seriously tho, he's right. another reason to go with ps2 is cuz most of the good xbox games are going multiplatform including splinter cell which I am currently playing and it looks friggin awesome on my machine at 1280x1024. Halo should be on PC soon.if yer curious I runAMD xp2000+512 mb ramsoyo dragon ultra moboand geforce 4 ti4200 (64mb) graphics.

MR2NER: ummm I don't think that Xbox 2 will make it out by next year. PS3 shouldn't be out till 2005.

XBOX hands down! Especially with Xbox Live. Playing online with a DSL or cable connection. Titles such as Mech Assault, Phantasy Star Online, Capcom vs. SNK, Ghost Recon and Moto GP.

XBOX deffinetly, you can put it in your car and hook it up to a small tv screen and have a cd / dvd/ video game player in your car all for like 150-200 dollars(assuming you already have XBOX that is)

but does xbox have anything that can come close to GT3 as far as how many cars to choose from, realistic look, and ability to extensivly mod and tune individual cars? I know Xbox is a more advanced system but that wont really matter if they dont make the type of games i would want to play.

I have PS2 and think it is far superior to XBOX. I don't have a particular liking for sports games though.

The Radeon 9700 pro STOMPS all over Nvidia, the Radeon 9700 pro is 10x the speed of GF4 Ti4600.

if you like racing games PS2 is the better choice. yes SGT looks pretty but it lacks the depth of GT3. Face it you cant drive a silvia in SGT, in GT3 you can.

now we just need a racing game with good online play. not sure how well auto modelista plays online. and ive never seen a PC racer with good online play. and i prefer shooters on PC (IMHO KB and mouse is the best control setup for shooters)

yeah, I got a ps2 just so I wouldn't have to go to my friends house to play gt3. but then again, xbox has Dead or Alive: Extreme Beach Vollyball....

My 1-cent: PS2, coz i got one. I'm just getting started on GT3 but my favorite game is Tekken Tag Tournament coz it rocks and my girlfriend knows how to play it. I'm really into the fighting games. Wish i could scrounge up some pennies and get Mortal Kombat

I say get PS2, XBOX, and a PC. This way you don't miss out on any good games. I couldn't be happier, but the key to realizing just how good a game can be is to invest in some very expensive home theater equipment.

My PS2 stopped working :sad i dont know wat happend...it just stopped reading the disks completely in like half a day! wont read any disk i put in it now....???

Same thing happened to my friend's PS2...he spoke to a sony tech on the phone and they said they've had that problem with the PS2's...he could send it in for repair or if out of warranty, take it apart and vacuum the inside of it out (yes..sounds weird). he was out of warranty and vacuumed it and it works again, hasn't had any problems since

Where the hell did you get that information??GTA is exclusive to PS2XBOX has "True Crime, streets of LA" which is supposed to killll GTAvice city in every way...plus its actual GPS satallite maps of LA, actual streets etc, instead of imaginary vice city land, has everything vice city did, just more, and better...

It also has Halo2 released soon, "best game ever,ever"

Also Matrix is released the middle of this month.

Im a huge GTA vice city fan, but from the reviews and previews of True Crime, it seems to hail above gtaVC.

Xbox is held back by the games that it has available now, graphicly...as the games progress, Xbox was made to keep up and generate that capability (someone jump in w/ the technical explanations)...PS2 will release better games, and need a new consol, where Xbox wont need to be replaced, its capable of more than the games are right now..

Xbox is also upgradable...the 'underground' puts in larger harddrives etc.....

Im not a game guru, but from the ones i talk to and the free xbox magazine i get it seems to be a better unit....

I would only buy PS2 for GTA, but once true crime is released, it will be better...

Oh, plus think of it as Microsoft is one of the biggest companies on the planet, and new to the video games, Gates wants to control the market, and for time its been out, has grown 2 fold over ps2....over the next few years, since microsoft does have the assets to grow faster than a company like sony, there will be more games and definitly more xbox live games

I'll give you guys the scoop:PS2: POS hardware, great games.XBox = Good hardware, anyone see any games they want to play?GameCube: Good hardware, some good games.

The XBox can kill the other consoles on raw rendering. The GameCube is the easiest to develop for. The PS2, well it takes the short bus to school.

It's all about the games you want to play. Buy the console that has the games you want to play.

As for the hardware info, I develop rendering engines for these consoles for a living so I know of what I speak.
