To loosen the A/C compressor for the alternator job, I noticed a rubber insulated PS hose that runs across the compressor bottom. The insulation was wet with PS fluid so I dug deeper to find the hose has a wear mark where it has been rubbing against the compressor.

This may be a small seeping amount, but this is one of those times like the "varmint chewed knock sensor harness" where I’m glad that I am taking the time to go through everything on the car to avoid future problems.

This hose looks like it is HIGH pressure. I think it might be part number 49722 from the parts diagram.

Does anyone know the PSI this PS hose carries?

Has anyone else had the problem?

Can a compression sleeve be used to cover and seal the wear area?

I fear this part is $200 to $300 and it might take 3 to 6 weeks for delivery..

Thank you,
Craig

The red V below points to the contact wear area.

Oh well.. Today 49720 arrived instead. Now I guess its time for Plan B..

49720 is nice looking part no doubt.. Though 49722 is slightly different..

Oddly enough - I can't believe I'm starting to have the part number scheme comitted to memory..
