Since I have a T-top, I would like to install a proximity alarm, one that is user controllable. Like I can have my tops off and set the alarm so people standing next to my car, the alarm wont go off but as soon as someone puts their hang inside the car, the alarm goes off. A friend told me about this time of alarm but I can't find it anywhere....

DEI makes one, u can find it at Ultimate Electronics and they usually have it in stock. But any DEI authorized dealer should have it. It’s a small see through box about the size of a wallet. The box should work with any DEI alarm. Most have a plug in for it if not, all you do is replace it with a shock sensor.

I tried to search Ultimate Electronics but can't locate any DEI. What does DEI stand for and do they have a website? Thanks!

DEI sands for: DIRECTED ELECTRONICS INC.The company is the manufacturer of car alarms such as Viper, Hornet, Python (my favorite), Clifford, and many more… Any company that sells these alarms will have that module you’re looking for.

Main web site: http://www.directed.com/

Go to this link and you will find the sensor you are looking for: http://www.directed.com/security/access/sensor.asp

Part number: 508D they call it a Invisibeam® Field Disturbance Sensor
