if you guys havent been aware...ontario is considering new laws on alcohol limits for "young drivers".

this means, any one age 22 and younger would be over the influence with ANY blood-alchohol level.

let me be the first to bring this attention to the pathy/qx4 forum, id like your opinions.

I am 20, and as a matter of fact, i got picked up at home by a friend, driven to his house, polished off 5 beers, 4 finger cigars, and a good amount of pizza. i intended as my 3 other friends to not drive after ANY consumption of alcohol. I took a cab home and patted my qx4 as i walked by it to my front door realizing....i could have killed it or someone had i driven tonight. but i didnt.

i am totally against this new idea for a "law" and find it to be another restriction on younger adults. not to mention had it come into play it wouldnt even affect our insurance rates considering law abiding young people would be driving with ZERO alcohol. its completely stupid.

what kind of message does it send. i guess im not experienced enough to drive with two beers in me, but a few years from now, i can handle it cuz im old enough.

not to be biased, but ive never seen a friend drive drunk. not even almost near the limit. we all always have a DD or cab. we know the dangers and we dont want to lose our license.

yet...i see so many of my uncles and relatives driving wasted as much as itry to stop it.

thanks government, you highly reduce the risk that "I" will kill someone driving drunk...when me nor my friends ever drive with alcohol in us. all your doing is making it more likely a 40 year old driver who thought their judgement wasnt impared will kill an innocent driver like me, instead of it being a 18-22 year old driver. great job.

if your going to make it 0 blood-alcohol level....make it for any age. alcohol affects us all no matter what the age. drinking and driving dont mix, no matter what the consumption, so our government should stop trying to be hard on the youth and make it a rule across the board. frig. its law after law. I got my FULL license here in ontario..the G...which entitles us to SOME alcohol...equivalent to about 1-2 beers. the only advantage besides a $20/month insurance drop. now its useless. now when i turn 25 im sure the government will throw in some new law restricting me even more.

the conservative that is wanting to enforce the new law denied arguments on a facebook group of 110,000 supporters in ONE WEEk saying basically that the supporters are all just young people whining and complaining. guess what. i never voted. never inteded to vote. next election im voting AGAINST THEM since the voice of 18-22 year olds doesnt matter? WE ARE THE FUTURE. Liberal government all the way. even Dalton Mguinty agreed to the facebook group saying its a great way to HEAR the voice of our youth. damn straight. the new laws are just out to please parents...we 20+ year olds are adults and should have our own rights. if your going to make laws for those of us above 19 then make it for everyone. or else, dont call me an adult! i still got restrictions compared to 23+ year olds dont i!

dont drink and drive. thanks for reading my rant. Now ima get some sleep!

ps...lets not get into how many beers you can drink. fueler i know you can down at least a 12 pack and still name all 50 states. this isnt about that man. LOL

Good on ya! People should not drive drunk at ALL. I am a homebrewer and like my beers, but ALWAYS make sure I either have a DD or only drink 1/hour along with a bunch of water.

I think this is a case of your government acting like ours and trying to protect "everyone" from a very stupid few. I am totally against these kinds of laws. Or laws that try to protect stupid people from themselves.

Drunk driving is utterly stupid. But so is that proposed law. On occasion, I'll go out for dinner, and have one or two drinks, and still drive home. I feel no impairment, and therefore am fine to drive. Fortunately, I'll be 22 by the time this law could come in to place... but I would be pissed off if it would become illegal for me to have a beer after playing golf then drive home...

But come on Brian... Dalton McGuinty? Ew.

Once people start to drink then they are less likely to be responsible or to make coherent decisions. People are going to drink and drive as long as there is alcohol and cars.

I say have a night where nothing but drunks are on the road. Eventually everyone will not have to worry about drunk drivers.

well i mean good things come out of drunk drivers. look at how reese peanut butter cups were invented.

--two drunks driving hit eachother head on. both fly through their windshields, beer cans everywhere, one was eating peanut butter, one was eating chocolate.

"dude....you got chocolate in my peanut butter""dude.....you got peanut butter in my chocolate"

cop arives on scene, tries this mix, and shoots both drivers.

LOL gotta love family guy.

if anybody saw it last night....ah wella bird bird bird, bird isa word....

LOVE the scene where they recreate "office space" printer bashing scene.

im sure that 9/10 of you are lost right now lmao

First of all, nice job on NOT DRINKING and DRIVING...hats off to you..very mature thing to do and you are right, its kinda stupid but the people who are making this law is not really in touch with the younger generation and to tell you the truth, its the stupid kids with the modified honda civics (if you call a intake and fart cannon exhaust a modification) who go racing on the public roads where they know that people will be driving there no matter what time or the day or night and still do it..its for the stupid people that dont think if you get what I am saying.. No offence to anyone with a civic btw

I also agree that no matter what age you are, you should not be drinking and driving, especially if you know you had one too many...and we all know when we have one to many...if you cant walk properly or talk properly after some drinks, you should NOT be behind a wheel driving yourself or anyone home.

I have been in your spot before and I have drove home with alot of alcohol in my system..when i say alot, lets just say I was hurling outside of my car outside of the club...I should not have done that and thank god I got home safe but since that time, I have not been to that extreme and drove home.

I am more cautious now being older as to how much I drink before jumping behind the wheel and I rather not drink and drive at all, maybe just one in like 1.5 hrs. I think you did the right thing and the government should also do something about the 40 year olds who swallow a bottle of vodka and then go drive home their panel vans after a days works.

Plus, you do not know if the authorities also browse these boards looking for information too on people drinking and driving and those that break the law and those that do illegal street racing

All in all, you are responsible for your actions no matter what...no one is holding a gun to your head and saying drink and then go drive home no matter what friggin age you are...

Its just my 2 pennies, I hope this makes sense, cus I am writing this in work and trying to write it fast

We could always outlaw alcohol as people would no longer be drinking and driving

LOL ahh prohibition. Lets just say that it doesnt work. the booze still gets anywhere.

i used to live in a city called Windsor, Ontario, it was right across the river from Detroit, Michigan. The river isnt very deep and the land is split by only about 500 feet of water. anyways, back in the 20's when alcohol was prohibited in the states......us canadians made secret tunnels and passageways under the river, and in the winter, theyd just drive their cars on the frozen river across the border. Theres still a bunch of Ford Model T's at the bottom of the river.

Ever hear of Canadian Club Whiskey (now called Wisers).......yep....they were banking it alot at that time.

Ahhhh what a great piece of history

my 2 cents-as long as there are cars and alcohol, there will be drunk driving. goverment wont outlaw alcohol. and i dont see them making it standard on new cars to blow into the tube to start it, like repeat offender dui'ers have to do. i used to be the kind to think that i could drink whatever i wanted and drive, it worked for a long time til i got in a wreck (1990 crx-RIP) after drinking. i was wasted but i think the adreneline kept me from getting a dui, i sobered up pretty quick. but i wacked my head, got a swollen blood vessel in my head, and now i get migranes and have crappy vision because of it. so im all for dui laws, although the only one i hurt was myself, it could have been worse so i have a 2 beer limit now and have followed it since july of 2004. no matter how far i have to drive, what i ate, how long between drinks, doesnt matter. more than 2-i aint driving. sorry for the rant but thats my personal experience.
