Congrats and welcome.

Just curious to know how you participate in these auctions? Is it open to public or need an inside connection? Is it an infiniti auction?

I assume bfournier is talking about ebay? I bid on a few M's on there a couple of weeks ago. In fact, the M35x I bought last week was listed on ebay but didn't meet the reserve, so I contacted the dealer and negotiated over the phone after the auction had ended for the car.

BTW, congrats on the new ride bfournier!

Yeah, I drove my baby home from Sheridan, WY to Wenatchee, WA; about the same mileage. I loved it but she was wearing her original OEM Goodyear RSA rubber and it was a literal wrestling match as she often twisted and turned and did not want to be tamed by the new rider.

Well, I learned first hand about tramlining. Read about it. If she's got the RSA's on, be prepared!!!

Yeah.....I totally agree. I have to wrestle with my 07' M45's OEM GDY RS-A's quite a bit under speeds of 60mph. Speeds above that seem to be relatively tame for the most part. I don't mind wrestling with her though......it gets kind of kinky every once in a while!!

It's such a shame on such a nice car as a "M" to put RSA's on. I threw on some PS2's and totally transformed the "M" into a exceptional handling Lux car. I highly recommend!

Congrats and Welcome bfournier on the M for cheap. Your braver than me I could never buy a car sight unseen. I guess I'm still sorta stuck in the 90s.

The only downside to these is they cannot be cross rotated and they may experience cupping even with a very small amount of toe or camber. The PS2s are more of a performance tire than a touring tire and some of the people do not like these on the 06+ Ms. I like either the new designed Bridgestone Potenza RE050s, The Pirelli PZero Rossa. My overall best pic for the M based on the many that I see and the owners I talk to in RL is the Yokohama Advan, these are available for the 18" and 19".

For all around best tire all season (if there can really be such a beast) you can't go wrong w/the ContiExtremeContacts. I've got over 10k on them w/no appreciable wear so far?! They are excellent in dry and really do very well in all depth of snow.

Disclosure: I have no familial no financial association w/Continental Tires.

bfournier - Congrats on the purchase of your new M! I also got mine in Chicago via eBay, no issues.

Hey Steve - have any feedback from RL on Sumitomo HTR Z III? They seem positively reviewed online (better than the Advan Sport in TireRack's tests), and a friend of mine has a set on his Audi S4 and loves them. But I haven't seen much feedback from M owners. Looking to replace my RS-A's this summer. Thanks!

I am wracking my brain trying to think of any Ms that have had these tires. At this time I'm drawing a blank. Although I have to admit I am a brand snob when it comes to tires, personally all of my cars have always worn Goodyears (however nothing made overseas). The Sumitumos may very well be a great tire for this car.

I will talk to Z about creating an M35/45 tire review sticky, maybe a poll with owner results. I'll write it up today, and see what the boss thinks. If we could get input from everyone we could make an ideal very specific buying guide.

Right now, all I have in the stickies is a list of available tires for our cars. Adding a review on tires would be good!

There is already one in the Infiniti Q45 section, as I recall ... maybe we can just link to that one, since the tires sizes are similar and the outcomes would, in all likelihood, be quite similar.

The primary reason I suggest a new thread is the M guys here are having some trambling issues not seen with the cloudlike riding Q.

Misalignment will screw any tire. These never cupped on my FGY33 in 24K miles.

Not only are they quiet, they provide great ride while also providing incredible wet and dry performance in braking and cornering. They are asymetrical, so no conventional rotating. I view flipping as part of best rotation maintanence anyways.

An interesting exercise is to compare the weight and load rating size for size with other premium tires. Without a doubt, the PS2 is in a league of its own. Way above the PS.

Ah, Steve, you are stuck in the new century Q45. You need to ride in some of the old ones.

You sound extremely knowlegable "MAXNIX". You beat me in pointing out the fact that PS2's can be rotated in any fashion(non-directional). At 33PSI the ride quality is actually pretty nice-especially considering the performance.

I am thinking about the Tein springs that have a 1.2" drop in the front and .5" drop in the rear. With factory shocks/struts, do you believe there will be ill effects?

I have the sport M35, so I assume the spring rates are a little higher than the regular version of the M. Considering that, I'm hoping to be close to stock ride quality, but have the visual benefit of a drop and leveling of the Beaut called the "M".

Any thoughts?

SteveTech, I would value your input as well. Thanks in advance for any information whatsoever.

Ahh Pilot Sport 2s not the wretched PS1s I skipped that page looking for something else. The design is significantly improved, although I have no other information that what the interwebs gives me. I haven't seen anyone with the PS2s, the PS1s yes but they suck. I messed up, please to forgive?

The old Qs are decent although most are now in such a state of disrepair the ride quality is a mere fraction of the greatness it was over a decade ago. I really like my Js ride although it's taken a decent investment to get it back to it's former glory. (Now for almost a grand for a window motor and regulator for the RR window)

The new Qs (those that are well maintained) or w/ low mileage ride like a dream, I have taken one of these on road trip a while back and the highway ride and ICC were amazing. A big soft riding boat is my type of car though, I'll sacrifice cornering ability in order to take several people on a long cruise with ease though.

In my line of work you NEED to be on the newest century in order to stay marketable, as there is now an influx of unemployed technicians that are looking to take hours from my check.

Since I was a kid I have been a fan of Infinitis larger cars (although there were very few in my town) but the sad fact is that many of them are now being repaired at the local gas station to save money instead of the people that are trained on the complex systems in the old school Infinitis. Spending hours chasing window pulse signals on an oscilloscope or cleaning electrical connections is becoming a lost art.
