I have a white Altima coupe that has just turned 1 year old. I have noticed the protective film Nissan puts in front of the rears wheel is turning yellow. I also noticed it on another white coupe at the dealer while getting an oil change. Does anyone have any advice on how to return the clarity?

I will probably just check with the dealer and see if they are willing to do anything about it.

my thoughts TKENNEY:

Nissan Stealerships wont do $**T to remedy most problems, in my area anyway.my advice, just buy clear automotive film online or at ur local PROFESSIONAL custom tint place.

i agree, just peel them off. i did it last weekend, just use your fingernails and slowly peel em back, just don't forget to wax the area after you pull em off. if you want, i guess you could ask the dealership to put on a new set, they shouldn't charge you for that, it's just 4 small pieces of vinyl like material.

Small pieces of vinyl material that go for 80$ a set. No joke, I had my rear quarter panel re-painted and that's how much they were.

My car's white and they're discoloring too, I'm going to pull them off the next time I have a chance.

$80 a set??? i hope that's for a set of 4, otherwise that's 160 for the whole car, a paint job is cheaper than that!

I have a red AC about a year old and mine are discolored too. They are now a lighter flat red than the Code Red on the rest of the car. What the heck are these "protecting" anyway?

I'm pretty sure that this has been discussed before... and IIRC the people that had taken off the vinyl noticed road debris hitting that area a lot. shrug I'm getting old so that may not be true.

your fingernail wont hurt the paint trust me, but i guess anything is possible. do it while its hot out so the glue is softer

Nope, one side. I want to say I saw someone else post the same... but that would have been awhile ago so I might be wrong.
