Prospective QX4 Owner

I am on the verge of purchasing a 2001 QX4, and so far I am impressed. I was going over the vehicle and it's features, when I came accross a pull knob in the bottom of the center console with the power outlet. The manual doesn't seem to identify this "knob" nor does the dealer selling it have any idea what it is. It is a black round knob that is positioned in the front of the center console underneath the removable partition. It pulls outward about 6-8 inches or so and feels like it's pnumatic. But, of course, it is not labeled.

Can anyone lend a suggestion?

if you posted a picture of it we could identify exactly what it is, if its factory or not and whatnot...
