Hey all, I'm in the market to buy my first car and after establishing a much higher budget than I initially expected, I have my eyes seriously on the new Altima Coupe.

As I new car buyer I know that I have a lot to learn, I don't even know exactly what all the purchasing steps are. I test drove the V6 coupe with CVT at my local Nissan dealership and I just love it. I want a black/black with a spoiler and the manager told me that they have a demo car that is black/black with black rims, smoked tailights and window tint. Appearantly it is not registered yet so it will be sold as new but since it has about 1000-2000 miles on it, they can work with me on the price.

Regardless whether I get this one or just a new one, I plan to put on a show to get the bargin of the century. I need to know where I can get to the true invoice price and dealer holdback for this car? (yes I did some of my homework lol) So I can calculate an opening offer?

Also is there anything else I need to know about this car? Will the 09's be coming out soon? will it be revised at the same price? Will the price for the new 08's drop enough to make it worth waiting till around this summer when the 09's probably come out?

I truely apprecaite any and all the help I can get!

Thanks,Brandon

"Is there anything else I need to know about this car" Yeah, buy the 6spd if you can. Not that there is anything wrong with cvt, I just regret not getting the 6 spd personally.

Kbb.com will tell you invoice price given your configuration, not sure about holdback though.

Welcome Brandon.

A word of advice on demo cars. Typically they have a couple miles on them as you already told us, but they may not have been properly broken in and could have been abused. Because it has those extra goodies on it, don't let them suck you in on price etc.

The prices on the coupes have dropped since they first became available last summer. You can get one for less than invoice probably. Most dealers don't have many coupes on the lot so they may not bargain too far on an 08 when the 09's hit the floor. Closeouts on models typically happen with vehicles that they have an abundance of last years model. An example would be the Sentra.

Be wise. Do your research and go in there with a price in your head.

Ok guys thanks so much for the replies. I sent out a request for quotes to all the Nissan dealerships so I can make a comparison and a decision.

I got one reply from a Nissan dealership telling me that the MSRP for the 25 is $21,650 and they are offering $18,588 after a rebate. On KBB it said that the MSRP for the 2.5 is $21,795 and the invoice is $20,382. They seem to be offering me a price lower than invoice. Of course thats with the rebate. Are the rebates dealerships offer a good idea? Or should do I just want the lower price straight out? I'm looking for the 3.5 anyway.

Also are the invoice prices on KBB reliable? On another site it said that the dealer holdback is $767. If I can make an offer below invoice, what else do I need to consider in order to get to that figure?

And lastly, I am now hearing that CVT is slower than stick, is that true?

Thanks so much!
