no real power gain from itblackened bumperyou get the satisfaction of knowing you helped ruin the environment and make other peoples kids sick from related illnesses from pollutionand the cost of removing the pipe for virtually no power gain. get an intake from ebay if you're gonna spend 20 bucks for "power" gains

lol indeed. maybe I'm getting too old for this kinda stuff and beginning to feel the whole social responsibility thing. however, it is true and that kinda stuff needs to stay off the general public roads otherwise you guys outside of CA may feel the emissions bite that us folk in CA feel.

well, I havent had a cat on my last two 240's, It was simply cheap just to toss on a 3" test pipe, but anyway you get an awesome smell to go with all those other con's.....bahaha.

pro: not much because you won't gain more that 1 hp by removing it.

con: federal offense to remove a catalytic converter.

I don't see the reason why people take them out unless its a trailered/track only car. If its on the street, run a cat.

If anything just put a high flow in, best of both worlds

indeed. like the magnaflow 59959 metallic core 3" for those of us running turbos where the mix tends to be a bit on the rich side.

Ima stay all motor for awhile, so I'm going headers back, straight pipes are to loud, I'm mostly getting the cat for the sound supressor factor. Not to mention the DMV did a sting operation last year like a half mile down the high way im on. As it is ima prolly have to buy a inspection sticker

Removing the cat on an otherwise stock s13 exhaust sounds like @ss in my opinion. If you also remove the factory resonator while you're at it, you're in honda riceboy territory then!

my aim wasnt to remove it to sound cool, it was if the damn thing goes bad. But then again i looked at some replacements and the prices arent bad.

yes, the prices for catalytics ain't all that bad. I was fearful of prices back oh 6 or 7 years ago when there weren't many choices for aftermarket catalytics but they've really come down in price with a few more options. The maganflow I suggested up top is both EPA and ODBII compliant.

For those of us living in CA where CARB compliancy can be an important thing to have (especially where a fine for a missing catalytic will cost more than a clean s13 now), the 43000 series offers more hope. Personally though, I'm using the 59959 since I need the extra durability of the metallic spun core. The 59959 is ballpark about 100-150 for the universal cat. Not too bad all things considered. The 43009 (3" CARB, ODBII, and EPA compliant model) will run about 200-250 iirc.
