Heat Soak happens with top or bottom mount setups. Bottom mount from the exhaust runners and top mount from the turbine housing and elbow. Top Mount is easier to work on i think. Since everything is right on top. Only con for top mount is the price of a good manifold.

i know heatsoak cant be eliminated but you dont think its going to get hotter right on top of the motor and snail smack up against the hood than out in the open w/ access to more fresh air

having a bottom mount doesn't exactally put it out in the open....

if your really worried about heat soak you can have your turbine housing ceremic coated and then also wrap it with a heat shield.

going top mount is a good upgrade.

Most top mount manis are tubular (LOL) which have a nasty habit of cracking over time...

lmao I think he's asking about top mount VS bottom mount TURBO, not Intercooler

Pros of Topmount: Bigger turbo, baller status

Cons: On 240s your turbo will be snuggling with your brake master cylinder. (you'll need a turbo blanket, heatwrap, etc)

what top mount do you guys reccomend for a gt2871r? Also when you go top mount...do you usually have to redo your exhaust custom? (elbow, downpipe)

Thanks

I would think that you would have to redo your exhaust and downpipe. Considering that you almost have to extend those parts a few inches

You'd have to get a new o2 housing (turbo elbow). Most all set ups will have the top mount o2 housing line up with your downpipe.

ic thanks man Reason I was asking this is because I was looking at the circiut sports dowpipe which has the elbow integrated, so the best way i guesse is separate downpipe + elbow.
