Hey everyone, unfortunately we have just realized that our s14 is a fraud. It is not an SE as we once thought, I have convinced my wife to take off the elaborate pinstriping and SE badge if I can figure out if it will destroy the paint or if the paint has been protected from the environment so that there will always be a mark...

any ideas?

Also I checked the FAQ but how does this list fix yellowed headlight lenses? IT seems to be a common problem on the s14s.

Thanks,Andrew

You can try a hair dryer or water and floss for the emblem. Then adhesive/grease and wax remover. If the paint is cured then there will be a slight discoloration mark. If it hasnt cured then I dont suggest the adhesive remover. People on here use nail polish remover for the headlight yellowing.

Use Mothers PC Plastic Renew (available at dirtbike stores) for the headlights---makes them unbelievably clear if you follow the directions, which requires sanding the headlights numerous times with 800 and 1200 grit sandpaper, and then putting on a few layers for the actual solution. worked wonders with my car

Thanks for the tips on the headlights...

regarding the paint being cured or not what exactly are you referring to? I believe the paint on the vehicle is original as applied in 1995 so I would assume it has cured by now.... the paint sucks btw are all the 240s this way?

Nissan paintjobs, in general, are not all that great unfortunately. At least that's been my experience here in the states.

Most every Nissan I've ever seen has a bad case of orange peel and both my 240 and Z are quite susceptible to scratches/dings. Paint seems overly brittle. But... unless you're paying a premium for a Porche or a BMW or something, that's what most brands are like.

hehe, that's funny you should say that about Porsches.... our '77 924 had horrible paint from day 1, a 914 we had was worse, and my dad's 911 is less than perfect...

my '96 firebird formula has great paint but a lot of them are bad...

Good to know this isn't only our Nissan... whats that about misery loves company? ;-)

uh use Zippo lighter fluid for the emblems and stickers, and f.uck sanding the headlights. . . take off the housings and put some ammonia in there with a little water, shake the hell out of it (try to cover the hole). It will make them look like factory but you have to make sure they are COMPLETELY dry b4 u put them back on. . . . .
