Hey all. I've got aftermarket rods (eagle) and pistons (ross racing). What's the proper way to put these things together? I mean it's easy enough slide the wrist pin through, but the pistons came with these rings, one sitting on top of the piston, like a million of them. Any ideas? Looks like there's space for a snap ring too, but there isn't any included with the pistons or rods.

Some pics.

When putting the pistons and rods together make sure you use some assembly lube on the wrist pins, also there should be a lil snap ring to hold the wrist pins together. The 3 rings are your compression and oil rings, it is important to have them gap to a specific size.

Here's a excellent thread on how to build your ka

there is another factor not mentiond and is a must if your going to reuse your bolts next sceduald rebuild...you need to get into the habit of meshuring your rod/Main/Head studs...after some use and retorquing..they will strech..if your rod or main studs stretch out even the slightest bit..buy new ones...rod studs are the most important of them all as for duability issues..to properly install a rod stud one must meshure it before you insert and press it into the rod..them meshure again..after you have assembles the rod and bolt together (after 1st torque) if there is any change..replace said stud...hope this helps a bit..and saves your block in the long run......

Those are spiral locks. You use them instead of a snap ring. Use superslick when assembling.
