It looks like Nissan is using a plastic oil pan on the 1.5L turbo engines. In need of the correct torque specification for the drain plug.

I won't be back at the shop till Wednesday to use ASIST, and it's too new for Identifix. Bump this thread on Wednesday morning to remind me, I'll look it up for you.

After additional investigation, here are the torque specs for both 2.5L and 1.5L from the 2023 Rogue Owner's Manual. Note that the minimum is the same and the maximum is a little lower on the 1.5L.

Drain plug tightening torque:
PR25DD engine: 22 to 29 ft-lb
KR15DDT engine: 22 to 27 ft-lb

Changed the oil and filter today at 1500 miles. Using a digital torque wrench, the oil drain bolt was removed with 23.59 ft lb. Installed drain bolt with a new compression seal and tightened it to 22.11 ft lb, the minimum spec. Pleased to see that Nissan did not over torque the bolt. Extra careful (more like way over careful) because I saw on the internet that an oil change shop damaged the plastic pan when removing the bolt because the prior shop over torqued the bolt. The oil filter is installed upright and can be filled with oil, unlike my 2018 Rogue with 2.5L. Removing the bottom cover takes time with all those push clips. Owned many cars, including two Nissans, and the oil that drained out had the smallest amount of metal flakes I've ever seen.

That’s pretty meticulous there. But 1500 miles? You must be idling in a dusty desert or it’s the original oem break-in oil.

I was crying when I accidentally changed my oil a thousand miles too early at 2845 miles. For severe schedule because of idling, short city trip driving.

This coming from a guy who used to do 15-20k oci changes in these same conditions.

3845 miles gave me the perfect Blackstone oil analysis after doing one out of interest. Only issue previously was higher iron & silicon which I assumed was from keeping the oil in there longer then usual. So now I change just a tad before 4K. Not as ocd as before either, I am on my third oil change on my same Fram ultra filter as well. Also use a quick valve oil draining plug to make it easier for me.

Well it’s a new rogue, I’ll probably baby it too. But I did 13k-15k oil changes when I first got the rogue new. Still running great nearly 14 years later. Smooth as butter.

Casperfun,
Only doing this for the first oil change. 4-5K seems reasonable. Nissan recommends 7.5K under perfect conditions. The engine is both turbo and variable compression. Time will tell if it is as reliable as the 2.5L.

Yep. We already had one brain-fart episode where an inexperienced lube tech spun one. With the incidence high enough to warrant a bulletin, I'm hopeful the folks upstairs will rethink using plastic pans (or at least add some major reinforcement).
