Lets talk Propane.

F Gas Prices..... So how can I make my new to be z32/VH45 Propane powered? I figure I could pull tank, fit two small propane tanks, and then, I don't know a lot. I am curious if there is a way to use multiport injection? I know it is a high octane fuel, and it seems like it would like our compression ratio.

when I started my project in Jan. i thought there was a guy in Aussie running a patrol TT on Propane, but not sure. And even at the high price propane is, is seems like a logical choice compared to gas prices, and could I then get a tax break for non-gas vehicle?

There are advantages for propane and better yet make it run on either! Thats what my Dad's chevy truck does. I don't know all the details but you would just need a special injector(s) installed in addition to your existing injectors that are made for a gas and not liquid. I think any tuning requirements would be pretty easy since we can tune our ECU's. One drawback could be a reduction in mpg. My Dad says he gets less mpg while running on propane. Here in AZ you can get an alternative fuel license plate if you have the dual fuel conversion as well as the tax breaks. You can even drive in the car pool lane with one person with the special license plate! I might do it just for that!

Thanx for the response Shane,

Back In El Paso, I had a Blazer with both, but not sure if it would work the same, way (cut the feed to the inj, when you want no gas) and retune. I'd ideally go with injectors that would replace my gas, and use only propane, and turbo it if money was there. But I would love to do this. I have always planned to make my 41 Dodge 4door sedan into a non gas car, and It has been around since the 70's. It seems like a good alternative to gas for us hot-rodding, or enthusist type. Plenty of power, less money, still easy to find, well at least here in Texas. On a road trip, just plan out very well where there are stops with it.

Craig,

I looked around and there are companies that make kits compatible with EFI (though you lose the ability to run gasoline). The problem you may run into is that none of them are CARB approved for smog and are off-road use only. So since your Z is pre-96 (non-OBD) there would be a good likelyhood that you you may not pass the tail pipe test..... Unless in your county it's not required and you only have a safety test.

Thanks,Nick.
