i pulled my suspension today to replace my Prokits with Sportlines. i put a front prokit next to a front sportline and they looked to be the same height. if anything the sportline was very slightly taller. i only had the prokits on for 9,000mi. sportlines are suppose to be another .5" drop in front over prokit. am i jsut looking at this the worng way. i cant put the car back down yet i have to order a new front strut cuz my budy stripped the thread on it last summer puttin it in with an air gun. i finally bought torque wrenches this week

so does anyone have info on why they seem the same? unless the sportline is softer i dont see how it can lower it more.

The only thing I can think of is that the sportlines are initally softer but end up being stiffer (those crazy progressive spring rates).

First of all, there is a breakin period for the springs. When I first put my sportlines on, it didn't really look like the car was dropped all that much. But after about 2 weeks of driving it everyday, I had to go back and do some re-adjusting, cut the front bumpstops, and have it realigned cuz the car dropped a lot. I think them being close to the same height is due to the sportline not being broken in and having a stiffer springrate.

gotta bump this thread up, as all springs tend to settle over a period of time. spring rates are also a critical aspect of suspension that is commonly overlooked by newcomers.

i thought about the spring rates. and if the sportlines are stiffer than prokits than they should be even smaller than the .5" in front. but from what people said im convinced that its from the prokits being broken in and sportlines being new. the sportlines are in now just waiting on new wheels and tires to come in

The settling of the used spring might have an effect when you compare the two side by side. Still, it's all about spring rates. Sportline and prokit are shipped in the same size box.

BTW, i trust an alignment was done after replacing your springs?

one did however leave a vise grip on one of the struts. i was driving around for at least an hour thinkin it was the springs settleing

lol ouch haha

anywho, i whould wait a week before getting an alignment just drive softly =)

it sucks getting an alignment just to have it messed up as the springs settle for the next week. i dont know i have a hard time affording one allignment let alone 2.

my rear oem springs were about 5 inches longer than my s.techs and my front oems were about 9 inches longer. the s.techs most certainly did not lower my car 5 inches in the rear and 9 inches in the front. needless to say, the s.techs are stiffer

driftaholic, my friend explained that to me when we put the prokits on when i saw they were about 2 inches shorter. i hardly knew anything last summer, i've learn alot since then mostly from the forums

hey structure240sx, did you use any camber correcting methods or is it not that bad on the S14? How is your ground clearance? i live in north jersey and i need clearance for the pot holes/speed bumps/road kills/babies (just kidding!)

Wow thanks a lot! The drop looks good. My current springs are lowering springs, but i have no idea what they are since i got them with car. Looks really old and kinda purplish after i wipe of the dust. Even though it's dropped already, I think it'll help ride quality and performance by replacing them with new ones from a good company. Does anybody know the warranty policy that comes with AGX? how do they verify that you have not gone past the warranteed max. drop?

It says on the installation instructions sheet that comes in the box that "We can recognize shocks damaged by excessive lowering by inspecting the piston rod. The warranty for shocks damaged by too much lowering will not be honored. "

The warranty is good for 12 months as long as you follow their guidelines.
