I looked at old post for information and dindn't really get what I wanted so here I ask.

Next year I'm going to have my girlfriend's car, it's a 1992 240sx coupe. It's a nice car but it's auto and starting to rust. My father has a companie, well a garage, and I can use when I want. So I don't have any problème with searching for tools.

Since I'm going to take the car apart I'm going to do a couple of changes like 300zx brake and blablabla. But I was really wandering which engine would be better between the VG30dett (300zx) or the 2JZ-GTE (supra turbo). I really like the fact that the supra has 6 spd. But It would be cheaper if I got a T-boned 300zx. Finding the brake's and then ordering the supra engine and misc parts would be harder.

I know that some people say that it would be easier to just take a sr20det. But I want something differrent. Plus I got one year till I get the car and probebly an other before it's on the road. Time is not an issue. And I'm studying engineering and would like the challenge.

Any bit's of info I could get for this projet would really help, and please don't talk about going to the junk yard. I live in Canada in the Atlantic region end there is absolutly no 240sx or any sport car in the junk yards around here. Can't even find a fender for the car, o yeah I want to convert the front not shure yeat whitch one to put, would also appriciate any info on where I could get body parts.

Thankx !!!

Something different + trying to be unique = costs lots of $

Do it if you got loads of $ hiding under your pillows.

Good luck shoehorning either motor in. The 300ZX tt motor is big motor, I'm not even sure if it'll fit in the 240 bay.

I'd say the supra, since it's inline 6, and well, you can get more potential out of it w/less money.. (both engines are very capable).

Or you could go ls1 swap ('99-'01 corvette v8 engine), which is all aluminum block, very sturdy, and relatively small and light for our engine bay.

If you want to be original, why not look into a FJ20ET?

Thankx for the info.

But I found a site good site for the 2JZ engine http://members.shaw.ca/kfgroup/240sx_-_2jz.htm I think I'm going to go with that engine.

By the way I don't want to spend to much just about 5-6 k a year for 2 year. So around 10-12 k. But I don't need to pay for any installation (labor).

So this is what I was planning :Free or almost - car4-6 k engine and components1 k brake system and components1-1.5 k seats500-1k tube for cage and weilding1-2k engine & computer tuning1k body work and paintwho need a stereo (well for now)

If this doesn't look right please correct me.

Oh yeah we do body work's and paint, and my oncle actully paint cars for part time job, if I need help, he almost live's next door.

I still got a year to change my mind, but this car is going to get new mods every years I really want a good engine for furder upgrades.

Thankx for the Ls1 swap idea, it's a sweet tought but I want to keep it import. Don't get me wrong I have nothing against ls1, but it looks like now a days every body is putting it in every things.

And for the FJ20ET, your right it look's like a unique swap, but upgrade's around here would be really hard and expensive. Plus it wouldn't make nearly has much power.

Thankx if any body find stuff that would be nice to put on this car please tell me. Like I said it will get a lot more mods.

I would really appreciated if I could have info on how I could get the s-15 nose. Like a clip whitout the engine. I saw a pics and it looks sweet.

I almost forgot, is it possible to have the R-34 wheels and if it's possible how?

Thankx

s15 conversions are often found on ebay for like 600$, but I don't know the quality. R-34 wheels will fit with a 5 lug conversion.

Looking good, let us know the progress, better yet make a website about the build. I would love to see a project like that.

I would swap in a Lt1 over the Ls1 Lt's have alot more aftermarket support.. You wanna be unique? Keep the ka then(hehe joke).. But just put in a sr22det or an rb25(they aren't too played out yet.. Or use that 4 to 6k to make a very Built Ka and keep the stock front on it.. Even the rust then get some steelies and pop some hubcaps on there and make a total sleeper! And save a few grand for suspension and screw body work and crap.. Anyways Totally awesome built ka/stock rusty body/hubcaps combo get my vote! that'd be the coolest route;)

sorry, the 2jz swap alone is $12k from that website, and it is a one-off, you do realize that they did a lot of custom work to fit that into a 240, right? anyways, with this project, i hope you aren't planning this to be your daily driver, because there will be a LOT of downtime. and for all of the money that you are going to spend, you would be much much much much faster with an rb25, since 6-cylinder seems to be your plan. oh, and don't lie to us, you aren't studying engineering. if you were, then your spelling wouldn't be at a 4th grade level. don't make us look bad, I'M studying engineering.

Well I am studying engineering, the reason why my spelling suck so bad is because I'm french, by the way. Last course I took in english was 5 years ago. Yeah, I'm going to a french university it suck. Sorry about making the engineer look bad.

About that web site I'll take it in to consideration.

Sleeper wouldn't be such a bad idea, but no body around my place want to race me any how, and trust me it's not because I'm a bad driver. Maybe a little bit crasy, but never a bad one.

I know about the price that they are asking in that site, it look's expensive and I have to agree there is going to be a lot of custom work. But that is what I want. I want to do a show car with it, and by that I meen clean work, and lots of time in the details. Maybe not a lot of money in the paint, because a lot of my friends did put some money in the paint of there car, and now those beatiful car are sitting in there garage what a waist.

And it's not going to be my daily driver. More like night and week end cruiser. To beat the hell outta those poor soul out there.

Thankx for all your responds, please keep then coming, and if any of you got a web site that could help me with the build up please post it.
