This is my 1990 240sx. It was my first car, at 16, and I now continue to love it at nearly 21. My plan was to continue to daily the car and build a spare engine for boost so that I could eventually just swap it over and have a nice, fun daily. Hence the wishful thinking.

Unfortunately, wishful thinking was all it amounted to. On my way home from work, as the odometer turned 254,310 miles...the 240 finally let me down. There was a tremendous amount of internal wear so instead of finding and fixing what was wrong, I bought a 2004 Volkswagen Jetta. Now that I have a daily I figured "go big or go home". That's when the build took a dramatic turn from a 200hp daily to the 350-450+hp toy it will become. Here's the car as it sits, and the plans I have for it.

Gonna have to helicoil a couple of the holes for the plugs

Got the Pistons and Rods and took everything to the machine shop that night to be matched to the cylinders. Picked up Clevite Main and Rod Bearings, along with some ARP Main Studs a couple days later

Got the Block and Crank back from the shop, installed new brass freeze plugs, painted the block, and assembled the bottome end. Now the head is in progress.

Coming along nicely!
I usually don't like painted blocks but that color is kinda cool.

What turbo are you gonna run?

Nice build~ Your whole project reminds me of me and my ka24et. Right down to buying the car at 16 and eventually getting a VW lol. I sort of documented mine, if you're interested you can check it out here. Keep up the good work man!

Pickin stuff up little by little. Gotta maintain the Jetta a little this month so parts money will be scarce, but I should be back on the ball in a couple weeks. This week I picked up my Manifold from Jeremy, got my bronze valve guides and my O&J Valve Springs.

Things have been very slow lately due to time and finances. I just got a good raise at work though so hopefully things will start to pick up. I need a few more head parts, and a trip to the machine shop and mechanically, the engine is done. Hoping for updates soon.
