Hey everyone. This forum stuff is new to me but thought i may post my project on here and maybe learn a few things along the way from your input. Its an Australian nissan R31 Pintara which is same body as R31 skyline. Bought a cheap JDM VH41 and a 300zx 5sp and decided to make my own adaptor plate as no one makes one specifically for vh41. So far have motor dummy fit into engine bay and have fired it. Just started adaptor plate and will post some pics soon. Anyway check out my pics and see what you think.[img][/im/home/kadenjen/Pictures/2010/PICT0411.JPGg] /home/kadenjen/Pictures/2010/PICT0414.JPG/home/kadenjen/Pictures/2010/PICT0415.JPG so far i have moved booster up and over 10mm and used wrx booster and master as its smaller diameter booster. sump required some clearancing by chopping and re welding (try get pics later). steering shaft slips down past factory headers perfect like factory fit.

ok if anyone can tell me how to post pics would be good :)

factory engine mounts are positioned in perfect spot just too low and wrong angle so I just welded extensions on top of factory mounts

Hey. The original motor was a CA20e twin spark. In Australia the R31 skyline and pintara were built here and are slightly different to the Jap spec HR31 which has pillarless door glass. The Skyline had a RB30e 6cyl and the pintara CA20e 4cyl. Most guys in OZ put RB20det or RB25det import motors in cause they pretty much bolt in but i wanted to be different and do the VH. Nissan V8s are very rare in OZ.

Nice swap there man.Do you have all the electrical loom plus ECU ? If so can you please let me know the type of ecu your having ?
I have found so far 3 types of ECU`s for the FGY32 vh41 nissan.
23710-1p121
23710-1p123
23710-1p660

I have a VH41DE also but did purchase it without any kind of electrical stuff.I need now to get the parts from japan and i am not sure witch one should work.

Thank you,
Dan

Hey Dan. My package came as motor, auto box, wiring loom and ecu. The ecu is 23710-1p121 and I have had engine running so it is the right one. The VH41de is not so common as the VH45de in most places but I have found in New Zealand the VH41 is the choice and very commonly used and modified in Sprint Car racing. www.trademe.co.nz is basically NZ version of ebay and there is always stuff on there including bellhousings and flywheels to use toyota boxes. Hope you sort some wiring and ecu.

Regards
Kade

Well I have started to make my own adaptor plate so thought i may post some pics and info. I decided to make my own adaptor to bolt up a Z32 5sp as all the available adaptor plates are for the VH45de meaning that only half the bolts line up and not fitting perfect as the VH45 and VH41 have the starter on different sides and therefore vary in shape and bolt pattern. The plan is..... Start with a 10mm steel plate, remove bell housing from gearbox, drill dowel holes and bolt holes in plate so that plate locates and bolts to bell housing, take bell housing and plate to machine shop and have them transfer centre line from front bearing in bell housing to the plate and machine a hole in plate to neatly fit over crankshaft of VH41, plate can now be removed from bell housing and will slide onto back of motor locating perfectly centre to the centreline of gearbox, next drill dowel holes and bolt holes to locate perfectly on back of motor while centred on crankshaft, have the centre machined out of plate to clear flywheel, have 5mm machined off bell housing surface to reduce amount that adaptor spaces gearbox from back of motor, use factory VH flex plate spacer behind Z32 flywheel to space out further 3mm.

plate drilled to locate on dowels of bell housing.

all done with a cordless drill lol.
I have the hole bored in plate to locate on crank and will get a pic up of that soon.

Kade, one more question please man.The ignitors, are they the same ? Does they have the same code each side ?My engine came with only one on the right side.So i want to know if i can use a SR20DET one as is the same code as mine.
So please check the both codes and let me know.
